Comments: Have given my Chronarch G 5+ years of beatings in fresh and saltwater and it's still going strong. Hoping this reel gets a new model to be a bit more comfortable to palm like the current metaniums but performance wise, this reel has never left me wanting for more

From: Unknown: Socal 5/2/23

Comments: By far the best series of reels I have used medium priced but out last and performs as well as high priced reels. Chronarch reels are smooth, dependable, easy to adjust and also easy to maintain. Have used the higher price reels and don't see the advantage. Chronarch is by far the better value all around.

Comments: If your die hard inshore...this is the answer. Like the gentleman stated below, he is 100% accurate. Stop buying the build house junk with inflated marketing hype I have a box full of them the tolerances, build quality are just not there I have them all no names will be mentioned. This reel will change your life and the enjoyment you get from fishing. This is a beautiful reel.Tackle warehouse is the best in the business thankyou and God bless.

From: Michael : Ormond Beach Fl 8/2/22

Comments: I've managed to ruin/near ruin just about every reel I've ever actively used in saltwater in less than 2 years despite doing my best to maintain my reels. Not sure how long I've had my Chronarch G, but I know it's been over 2 years and it is still purring like a kitten. I've bought everything from Curado to Antares DC over the years and have found a bunch to love, but this is probably my favorite casting reel purchase of my life and it has held up so far to the test of time.

Comments: I've used this reel for over a year in backwater Texas marshes on redfish, speckled trout, and flounder (fluke to you northern anglers). It's very smooth, quiet, and extremely easy to tune for backlash reduction in capricious winds, which is the norm on the mid-Texas coast. It doesn't have great drag power, but it is enough to manage slot reds (20" to 28" in Texas) with sensible handling. Very effective reel for the money.

Comments: Typical Shimano perfection BUT....if you don't need the saltwater protection get the MGL, MGL casts a touch better and is a fraction smoother....the G is a 10, the MGL is a 12

From: Bob: Fountainville, PA 1/8/22

Comments: I'm a huge fan of the Curado and wanted to go a step up and I'm glad I did. Super butter smooth reeling and unbelievable casting distance once you've adjusted the spool brake and tension to meet your style of fishing. The Chronarch is a perfect "low priced" high end reel.

From: Hayden: Haleyville, AL 12/24/21

Comments: The Shimano Chronarch is a staple in my arsenal of reels, i've been using them for years with no issues they cast great, very smooth reel.

From: Rick: Forest, VA 11/3/21

Comments: I grew up using baitcasters fishing the Tennessee river. Moving to Florida spinning reels are the norm down here but while fishing with the spinning reels I lost some step in my casting game. I looked and reviewed many options and found the chronarch G to be the set up I was looking for to fish inshore brackish water. It was a fast and easy set up and it might be my comfort ability but I have had almost non to minimal backlash and not one birds nest after two trips out. I will most likely be buying another one in the near future due to my love of baitcasters and the smoothness of this reel.

Comments: SoCal guy that fishes both fresh and salty bass. Bought the Metanium MGL that was advertised as saltwater friendly when it came out in Japan. I won't lie, it's the best feeling reel I've ever owned. Unfortunately, it wasn't quite as saltwater friendly as I hoped. I'm no reel maintenance guru but I do try to take care of and maintain my reels after each use in saltwater. Took about 6 months or so to melt some of the insides in the reel and have to send it off for a serious and expensive overhaul. As much as I loved the reel, I didn't really have any reason to believe it wouldn't happen again, so I decided to take a shot on the Chronarch G since it sounded like it was designed specifically for my kind of fishing. Years later and I'm a very satisfied customer. This is the longest period of time I've been able to use a lowpro baitcaster in saltwater without needing to send it in for some sort of maintenance. The Met MGL does edge it out a bit in just feeling smoother and more refined, but I have no doubt that the Chronarch G is the right reel for the job I bought it for. I'd love to see a more premium offering targeted toward spotted bay bass, redfish and other salty species hit the market one day because I'm a sucker for new and shiny stuff, but this reel is doing a great job already.

Comments: first of all, am un-apologetically a fan of shimano reels.  from the old 'B- series to the BSF.  to now having curado and chronarch E series.  in last year have added a few of the Chronarch 150xg over past year.  now two more.  Good to great workhorse reels with lifetime expectancy.

From: Kurt: Chattanooga, TN 2/12/21

Comments: Solid frame, smooth feel, casts fine. My standard in $300 price range.

From: Jack 1/22/21

Comments:Love the reel I'm a Shimano guy, this reel casts great and is light weight

From: Frank: Orland Park, IL 10/31/20

Comments:Very nice reel. I live in San Diego and fish fresh and salt, perfect reel for this. Performs like a more refined/lighter Curado K. Casts better, a little smoother, a lot lighter, more refined. Plan on buying another.

From: Patrick: San Diego, CA 9/18/20

Comments: It's held up to summer heat and salty water in Texas. It's on my kayak every trip. I'm not the one that buys new reels every year. And just replace my Curado 200e7. I've had this reel for over 2 years. The design I'm not to excited about. But after using it, I've been a fan. With the stock bearings this thing can launch baits. Only thing I had to do was take the reel apart and grease the drag washers. The first redfish I caught the reel drag had a jerky feel. So I grease it up and now it's smooth like most Shimanos. Another than that the reel has been solid.

From: Chuck: Louisiana 7/1/20

Comments: It's not like we need more rave reviews on the amazing price/value of this reel, but I'm amazed. I own all the Tatulas, JDM SV 103, Aldebaran, Metanium, Curado K, and older Curados. The Chronarch casts almost as far as the Metanium with various weights, sizes, shapes. The drag and gears feel incredibly solid. The Metanium fits my had better/slightly lighter. The Chronarch is just an all around beast you can do almost everything with except for ultra finesse and I stop over 1 oz. I can't say anything negative about this reel except for its shape but larger hands should be pleased with. If I had one reel to choose for all baitcasting applications, due to price and versatility, this would be it.

From: Gary: Illinois 8/22/19

Comments:I've many shimano reels - most in the upper dollar price range .. but there's just something about the chronarch MGL , that has it my all time fav . It's like having multiple of a same item and even though it may not be the most expensive it will be your fav .That's what the chronarch is for me .. pound for pound I love everything about this reel . Have it on a Gloomis GLX 7'3 H for bottom baits and cast so smooth and far .. when time to replace another reel IWould definitely buy another chronarch MGL .. it's class / precision / feels perfect fitting into the arch of my hand .. the weight is perfect ( I don't like super lightweight reels ) I'd prefer to feel the craftsmanship of a tool . Shimano puts out some amazing reels as years go by and they all last years with heavy use and proper care .want a crown jewel ? I highly recommend the chronarch on a Gloomis GLX .. perfect match

From: Dean:Las Vegas 6/16/19

Comments:I love this reel.I can effortlessly throw a 1/8 ounce Johnson spoon tipped with a small grub 35yards on a 5'9' rod. Easy to set anti-backlash.It is very smooth. Palms easy and is light. I have a chronarch that is over 15 years old and still throws great.I generally throw baits 1/2 ounce or lighter like small plastics.( weightless Zoom speed craw)This reel handles it great.I would definitely buy another. I do not own a higher grade shimano to compare it too.

From: Clayton:Georgia7/27/18

Comments:I've used all brands of reels very thoroughly, used to be a die hard Quantum guy then switched to Lew's, then to Abu and then to Shimano. There is no comparison between Shimano and all other reel companies. Shimanos are miles above the rest and the Chronarch is no exception to that rule. Don't waste your time or your money on any other reels, Shimano has one for your budget and your needs. It's amazing to me how superior Shimano reels are and I wish I had got one in my hands sooner. Don't make the same mistake I did - get one.

From: Sam - 5/2/18

Comments: The Chronarch 150xg is very compact and light weight for those long days and long wading trips on your favorite flat. The micro module gear system allows for a very smooth and precise connection with your reel and your bait. The SVS braking system allows you to fine tune you casting style and match it to the lure you are fishing at that moment. This allows the angler the maximum casting distance everytime. Place it on a Gloomis Conquest or NRX 852c with 30lb Maxcuatro line and you have the ultimate inshore combo.

From: Captain Jason Catchings: Venice, Louisiana 3/20/18

Comments:I have only had my chronarch for a month and the drag has already broke on a 2lb large mouth but I have to say it is really smooth and cast a mile

From: Unknown 10/14/17

Comments: Probably one of the best reels out on the market right now. Worth every penny. Incredibly smooth and very well made. Also compact and lightweight. Overall, great reel that has the feel of reels over $300+.
