Overview

Finely tuned for even better performance than the original, the 13 Fishing Fate Black Casting Rods has improved the overall feel while maintained the custom-tuned tapers the series is known for. Continuing the legacy of sensitivity, the 13 Fishing Fate Black Casting Rods are constructed using PVG30T Japanese 30-ton lightweight high modulus graphite that makes them super nimble and reactive. They also feature smaller Evolve Stainless Steel Guides with Alconite inserts to reduce weight and improve balance.

The Evolve Soft Touch Carbon Ported Reel Seat relays the most subtle of fish intentions by harnessing the energy and transferring it straight to your palm as well. Finished with the Evolve Snaggle Tooth Hook Keeper positioned in the rear to provide easy storage without the ability to snag upon casting, the 13 Fishing Fate Black Casting Rods raise the bar of performance at a price point that is unmatched by any other rod on the market.

Fine for the priceIt’s a cheap rod and you’ll feel it when using it. The rod handle was falling apart 2 months into using it and had to super glue it back together. That being said, the action and feel of the rod is good for the price. I use the 6’7 rod for poppers and I’d recommend it as a cheap beater rod. If you’re looking for something to last for years, maybe look elsewhere.

I love it!!!!!I have rods from 20 bucks to 350 bucks but I caught these on sale for 25 bucks and was going to give them to people for Xmas. I bought 2 and wish I'd have bought more. I ended up keeping them and buying rods at Walmart for presents. I like that I can throw them in the van and not worry about them. I actually would be bummed if I broke 1. I put a 300 dollar reel on 1 and a 350 dollar reel on the other. They cast great and even feel great in the hand. I got the 7'1" MH fast which is the only size offered for 25. They look like a 150 dollar rod and feel like one. Definitely not for boat flipping a 4 or 5 lb fish but not junk either. I've always thought you had to spend at least 150 bucks to get a decent rod so was really surprised how decent they were. Definitely a great first rod for kids or beginners. If I needed another spare rod I'd still pay 50 for one. I was testing a 2oz swimbait and didn't have my regular swimbait rod with me and it handled it well.

Cheap but my go toI have several rods that are more expensive... but when i tell you this rod is sexy and the one I use with "expensive line and reel" I could not believe it. Used to believe that the more expensive the better, which is true in some scenarios... coming from Exprides and other rods... This is the rod i dont care if it gets beat up, but would cry if it broke, Love it and would recommend for new and veterans!

Great rod for the priceBought this rod on sale for 60 bucks last summer, fished with it a few times a week for a good three months throwing everything from crankbaits to texas rigs and this thing handled the abuse super well. Landed solid 5lb largie on this thing and it handled an 8lb catfish without a problem. The rod feels a bit light but I haven't had any trouble keeping fish pinned or setting hooks.

I cannot recommend this rod.I bought this for a c-rig rod. It snapped about 8 inches from the tip on the first hook set. I wouldn’t buy this rod.

Comments: Great sensitivity, good backbone, tip is a little fragile. I have broke one near the tip , boat flipping a 3lber (my fault) this is my go to worm rod !

From: Halo: Georgetown sc 9/13/23

Comments: I give this rod a 6 out of 10. I got the 7' 4" Heavy and it's nothing special but there isn't anything to complain about either. Very middle of the road medium priced rod. I use it for pitching and frogging.

From: Will P: Pickwick 8/9/23

Comments: Got the 7'1" MH casting rod. For the money it's really a great rod. Perfect for large buzzbaits and spinnerbaits. I have even Texas rigged a big worm and used it for a swim jig. It's pretty sensitive actually. I love the action. Not too stiff, but still enough spine to move a good fish. I'm just not going to spend $100 on a rod that I use for moving lures. Sure, maybe for a really nice jig rod, but you do not have to have a high end rod for the majority of your fishing. Put that extra money on a quality, aluminum frame baitcaster.

From: Matt : Hot Springs, AR 8/4/23

Comments: Bought the 7'4" heavy recently to use as a frog and jig rod and have been catching fish with it left and right. Great price with the closeout sale and a definitely worth the price so far.

From: Tyler: Ohio 7/21/23

Comments: I think the 13 Fishing Fate Black 7'3" medium heavy is a nice rod. It's a little on the heavy side but overall a good rod. The only problem I had was with the reel tightening knob. Doesn't seem to want to slide over the foot of your reel which means your reel cut loosen up & come fall off I would think.

Comments: Good overall quality rod with good sensitivity at an excellent price when on sale. The only drawback is that it it is heavy155 grams (5.4 oz.).

From: Jay: Florida 5/14/23

Comments: I purchased the 7'1" Med Hvy last month, so far it has been a great rod. I love the color, design, and feel. The action is great. I have been primarily using it for small swimbaits. The only issue I have with this rod is the quality control; on the guides there was a lot of excess resin and it was slightly cracked in some areas. Overall I think 13 Fate Black is a great line of rods.

From: Daniel: Washington 5/5/23

Comments: So far so good with rod series. Was throwing a 3/4 oz. swimbait on the 7'6 medium/heavy. Hooked into a 6 pound pike and the rod handled the fish flawlessly. Definitely hitting above price point. We will see how they hold up over a few season.

From: Richard : Meriden, Ct 5/3/23

Comments: I recently purchased the 6'7" med and Man, for the prices this rod is great. It's light, sensitive, and a high quality rod. It fishes more like a med/hvy but the action is terrific. If your are on a budget and don't want to spend $250 on a rod I guarantee you're not missing much.

From: Phil: P.A. 12/26/22

Comments: Have a few of these rods now. Some 7'3" for flippin and pitch'n. Another for jerkbaits and vibrating jigs, very happy with the feel of the rod. feel great in my hands, no problems casting all day. I have some in the cranking variety as well and That is a fantastic Rod. Super powerful for launching larger 20 foot divers along ways and it doesnt feel like there is a huge crank on the line, without taking away the sensitivity of feeling rocky bottoms or strikes.

From: Chris: PA 5/2/22

Comments: After fishing this rod for the past 3 weeks I come to find the the model I bought 7'6 med hvy 12-25lb extra fast rod is way too stiff and overpowering for little fish..this rod is not intended for line or leaders less than 20lbs, broke off way too many times on 15lb max and occasionally on 20lb floro. tested the rod last night on a nice size catfish (it actually ate my kietech) and thats were I noticed the power of this rod! I pulled the catfish (approx 12lbs) in less than 3 mins. the rod kept the fish pinned and made quick work tiring the fish quickly. I love the rod but need to back off in the drag big time..might have to buy either a different model or different brand..nice rod though, I think better suited for big stripers, big sandbass, big calico but for local bass or spotties, it's overkill

Comments: Best rod ever. More sensitive than my Exprides at 1/3 of the price. Buy them before I do.

From: Unknown: Tinley Park, IL 4/13/22

Comments: Just bought my first 13 fishing rod and I'm blown away at the craftsmanship but more so the action of the rod. I bought the 7'6 MH extra fast action. This rod sets the hook from long distances and recoils fast enough to keep the fish pinned and pressure as I grind the fish in. I mostly fish plastics so this rod is excellent for setting the hook. The extra length allows me the cast further. Even tho it's a MH its pretty stout and can cast 1oz baits with ease. I was casting the dark sleeper fishing for spotties and the rod was amazing pulling the spotties out of the pilings. I'm a huge fan of this rod and will be buying more. Can't beat this rod for the price. It's sensitive, strong, light and looks really nice. Haven't used all their models but for plastics, extra fast action on this rod is amazing and for less than $100, itâs a steal! BTW, kudos to TW on their shipping process. Fast easy and never an issue. Thanks TW!!

From: Alex: Los Angeles, CA 3/19/22

Comments: Outstanding rod. I bought one of the Medium fast action baitcasting rods and loved it so much I bought another a few weeks later. These rods cast like a dream and as far as you need. Very sensitive and great power in landing the fish. Will probably be purchasing a spinning rod soon.

From: Michael: Round Rock, TX 3/18/22

Comments: Great product! I use a lot of 13 Fishing gear, and it hasn't let me down yet. And the price you can't beat for the quality.

From: Patrick: Knoxville, TN  2/10/22

Comments: Have two of these rods already, a 7'3 medium and 7'3 medium heavy. Both rods are great. Bought the 7'6 medium heavy for jigs and big worms and creature baits.

From: Gary: Alabama 1/17/22

Comments: Thought I'd try this with a Lew's casting reel. Nice combo and after some adjusting it casted well and had just enough whip. Looks good too.

From: Mikey: Woodridge, IL 9/2/21

Comments: The extra fast tip on the Fate rod is amazing. I mainly fish plastics and the hook up on this rod is great. I normally use the Defy rods which work good but the Fate is far above the Defy on plastics. When you set it's there. I will buy more in the future.

From: Jeff: Missouri 4/4/21

Comments: Just fished with my new Fate rod MH with extra fast tip. WOW the hook set using plastics is amazing. Have always used the Defy rods before and loved them but the Fate is far above the Defy. quality rod at a good price.

From: Unknown 4/1/21

Comments: If you're in the market for a budget bass rod, this is the rod for you. The fate black handles like these other companies expensive rods, but in a much cheaper package. I've got a few of em and they are some of my favorite rods. Give em a shot, they won't let you down.

From: Mike: Winter Haven, FL 2/23/21

Comments: Replaced my old 7'4 I snapped the tip off, first 2 fish 6.9lb and a 5.6lb Toho.. Love this rod it slings a Big Easy right!

From: Chad: Saint Cloud, FL 2/9/21

Comments: Awesome rod for the price point. Bought as Christmas gift for my dad to fish Texas rigged worms. He loves it. I should have bought one for myself! In fact, I think I will..

From: Craig: Leesburg, FL 1/10/21

Comments: Absolutly love these rods. I have several of them, with my favorite being the 7' 4" H which I use around lighter cover for frog fishing, flipping a jig, and great swim jig rod around vegetation. Can't beat them for the price!

From: BSFishing: MN 11/10/20

Comments:This rod can't be touched at this price! I have the 7'3" med rod for small Swimbaits, it's long and got a good flex to load up when fish bite! Highly recommend at this price or even more

From: Steve: Lockport, Illinois 9/25/20

Comments:Fished this rod in a medium/fast for about 2 years now and its still going strong. Paired with a curado dc and this pulled in a 9lb 10oz catfish that decided to go after my megabass jerkbait. I have some megabass destroyer and orochi rods and I can say that the medium/fast is just as sensitive as my megabass rods for 1/4 of the price.
