Overview
Delivering an action and profile that drives big bass insane, the Savage Gear Duratech Toad redefines soft plastic toads and will put more lunkers in your livewell. Based on a 3D scan of a real frog, the Savage Gear Duratech Toad features a tapered body followed by two paddle legs, which allows it to move through cover effortlessly where the big fish live and produce a strong kicking action that triggers ferocious strikes. The Duratech material is not only extremely durable but also super buoyant and lets the toad float on the surface when paused, unlike other soft plastic toads on the market, giving you the ability to pause it next to key pieces of cover to trigger bites from wary bass. Packaged with 1 pre-rigged toad on a custom 4x strong ultra sharp frog hook and 2 replacement bodies, the Savage Gear Duratech Toad delivers unmatched realism, performance and value any angler can appreciate.
Includes:
-1 pre-rigged toad
-2 spare bodies

Comments: I never do reviews but this is one where I need too. These are absolutely the best frogs on the market! Very very durable and puts off a lot of action. Best thing is that they float.

Comments: The bait kept slipping to the point I quit using them. I lost the hook and used one of my own and without the little holder, the bait constantly slipped down on the hook. It's nice they float, but sometime they would not work unless you moved them fast.

Comments: I spend most of my time fishing privately owned ponds that are between 5-30 acres in size. My favorite pond has experienced a great deal of Lilly pad growth in recent years, so I spend a lot of time frog and toad fishing. Not unusual for me to catch 20-30 bass in an evening fishing this way. Prior to this year, my 'go-to' frog/toad was Keitech's Noisy Flapper....it is heavy and has great action, and is relatively durable for a bait made of conventional plastic (I throw my frog/toad baits on a St. Croix frog specialty rod that has the action of a pool cue). The Duratech toad is my new standard. It has all the advantages of the Keitech, but the thermoplastic material it is made from is significantly more durable and the bait has very good action, perhaps not quite the equal of the Keitech, but still really good. I don't use the hook that comes with the package, because I don't buzz my baits straight across the surface. Instead, I use a VanDam weighted grip pin hook (5/0, 1/16 oz) and pump the bait over and around the pads. This configuration gives me just a tad of negative buoyancy....so I can pull the bait up onto pad cover, then let it sink into open spots, where it really almost suspends a few inches below the surface. When I want, I can speed up my retrieve a bit and 'buzz' the bait if need be. Without the hook, the bait alone weights about 5/8 oz, making it easy to cast with my rod and 50lb braided line. I almost always throw the 'Albino Flash' color....you can see it in a couple of feet of murky water 50 feet away and when it disappears......set the hook!!!

Comments: This prior review is dead on. everything works great on these. we just had a 15 fish day skipping these deep under trees, but the eye on the hook isn't welded shut, so my line actually slipped out a few times and I had to re-tie. luckily it wasn't on a fish.

Comments: I saw this bait at Icast this year and couldn't wait for it to be released. I finally got a few packs and here's what I think. They skip really well and the tail bubbles like a buzz bait if worked on a steady retrieve. The hook that comes with them is designed really well but they need to beef the hook up I just bent the hook on a 2 pound fish. I think it needs a wider gap hook as well. Savage Gear please change the hook on these but leave the ball on the hook
