Overview

Just when you thought popping frogs couldn’t get any better, the Savage Gear DC Popping Frog delivers performance that will make it the only popping frog you put in your tackle box. Built with a wide body shape and a deeply cupped mouth, the Savage Gear DC Popping Frog produces a super loud popping action that calls fish out from under vegetation to trigger explosive strikes. It is also perfectly balanced to create an effortless walk the dog action in open water, giving anglers the power of multiple frogs in one. An innovative dual chamber design drastically reduces water intrusion into the body so you don’t have to squeeze water out after every cast as well.

To ensure more strikes turn into landed fish, the Savage Gear DC Popping Frog is equipped with a heavy duty upward pointing double frog hook for optimal hook angle that translates into superior hook penetration. Finished with a highly detailed paint job and a color matching rubber skirt, the Savage Gear DC Popping Frog will turn heads above and below the water.

Comments: Wild to me you can charge this much for a frog that has a zero percent hook up ratio. Was there any product testing? Lol don't waste your money, best looking frog with the worst hook up ratio I've ever seen. I guess you have to boil it, so in that case it should be $5 since there is work for you after you open the box, super disappointing!

Comments: Let me start by saying that I fish frogs a lot. I am no rookie. I bought this to see if someone had actually built a better mousetrap and to see if the descriptions and reviews were valid. I fished early 2 days ago and I missed 5 fish in a row. I even changed to a different Savage DC frog in the middle of all that to see if it was that 1 frog. It was not! The hookup ratio of these is awful. I tried bending the hooks out and up (I do this on all of another competitor's frogs for better hookups) and the hook broke. I also noticed that these would sink sometimes and just float under the surface. It wasn't because they had water in them either. It's a good looking frog and they have some great colors but my recommendation is that you NOT waste your money on them. BTW, I changed back to one of the competitor's frogs and on my first cast with it I caught a 4-11 LM.

Comments: Great looking bait very dissatisfied with the hook up ratio. Love the profile and the action just wish the body was a little bit more forgiving.

Comments: I really like this frog I was a firm believer of the Spro popper frog and I still like them but this frog is as good if not better. Skips great and doesn't take in water. Great hook sets as well

Comments: It took me a long time to figure out this frog. The hook up ratio out of the box is 0. Huge con for that. But this frog gets bit when no other does. The action and ability to come through the delta's snottiest mats is worth its weight in gold. I know it sounds wacky, but boil this frog for 1-2 minutes then let air cool. Softens up the body just enough to get good hook sets without ruining its weedless design. Pre boil I would tell you to burn this frog.Post boil this is my new favorite frog and I'll never buy another.

Comments: I like savage gear and I like their frogs, however this frog wasn't my favorite. Every time a got a strike the frogs dual air chambers wouldn't collapse. So it just skin hooked them. It's a nice frog, it's better than a lot of other frogs on the market, but it's not my favorite.

Comments: Seems like a quality frog, I haven't had a chance to use them yet but Ive had alot of success with other savage gear frogs so figured I'd give them a try. I would have liked them to be a little softer but there not bad.

Comments: Great new frog, has a nice compact size but is not heavy enough to throw well and be accurate with. Walks with ease and can be worked softly or more aggressively. The only you need to do out of the package is trim legs to desired and poke a hole in the butt to let the air escape. I heat up an old flipping hook and melt a hole between legs.

Comments: I will start by saying I'm very openly biased about hollow body frogs and have a passion for a competitors frog. However I decided to give this one a try because they have some great looking paint jobs and the lack of water intrusion sounded intriguing. I've made 100 practice casts day 1 in an unproductive lake just to test swimming and weedless ect and here is what I've found personally. This this does not allow water inside of it. I was worried it would make for a hard body not willing to collapse but seems it should collapse perfect fine for hooksets and after many casts into all types of thick vegetation pulling through loads of lilly pad crevices ect not one time did I have to squeeze water out !! It walks very well in fact I could make it do about 240-degree if twitch right very easily spun 180-degrees. A+ imo, even though it had a tendency to roll upsidedown it always corrected itself. Upwards pointing hooks have a weedless mold into the body seems like a great shape and design without hooksets compromise. The shad color looks great probably my last choice in any baits colors due to dark waters I fish but that's what was in stock. Great color in fall here when water clarity changes probably. The frog has two negatives imo but by no means is it a deal-breaker for me considering the larger amount of positives. 1st is the frog doesn't have deep hard pooping action by no means to me. It spits hard but not the deep audible chug of other frogs and I think that's due to the high float of this frog. The back nose to rear floats above water. While I think that helps walk easier probably it didn't help popping action in open water.. However, the thing popped great on top of vegetation! Thick surface cover canopy this thing floating in rear of frog must help put nose down and it excelled at spitting water ! That alone has many applications for me between walking, water proof design and the chugging across thick grass mats I'm sold . Get black and bluegill in stock and I'm scarfing some !!
