Overview
The VMC Drop Dead Weighted Hook is designed to bring out the ideal action from the Trigger X Drop Dead Minnow or Flutter Worm.
Fish it like you would a traditional soft jerkbait or using the Drop Dead technique. The weight is positioned low on the hook shank so it functions like a keel and keeps the Drop Dead Minnow running true, while also allowing the Drop Dead Minnow to produce its signature Drop Dead dying shad quiver and death spiral on the fall.
The tapered locking spring keeps the Drop Dead Minnow firmly secured and allows you to easily add or remove baits without damage. Also equipped with an extra wide gap for a better hooking percentage, the VMC Drop Dead Weighted Hook delivers super sharp performance specifically designed for the Trigger X Drop Dead Minnow.

Comments: This VMC Drop Dead EWG Spring Lock hook series is properly sized in that you do not have to go up one size like you need to do from similar EWG Spring Lock hook series from Gamakatsu and Owner . It's good to have a couple of different weights and sizes in the VMC Drop Dead hook series so you can dial in the horizontal fall rate along with the quiver / action with the particular soft stick worm you are looking for . If you are like me , I use more than one brand of soft stick worms (i.e. Dinger , Ocho , Senko , Trick Stick , Zero , etc). with different sizes and weights so I appreciate the range VMC offers with the Drop Dead hook series . Additionally , the hooks are sharp and beefed up a bit to be more robust making this hook a good candidate for a bait cast T-Rig set up with a soft stick worm as well as spinning equipment . Lastly , the "drop dead" technique (along with it's close relative - the "rage rig") are different than a wacky rig or standa rd T-Rig in that it's the shape of the weight along with placement of that weight on the hook with a stick worm that makes them have such a deadly horizontal fall . Thank you TW for stocking this VMC hook series !

Comments: I use these for reaction innovations skinny dippers, 4/0 1/8oz. It's the perfect match in my opinion. I'm using 50# braid and fishing them around heavy vegetation, have yet to bend one.

Comments: I love the long hook shanks on these VMCs; and, to make a hook set even more likely, I remove the standard screw lock and replace it with a medium sized Owner CPS (centering pin). Now that I have it set up optimally, my favorite bait is something in the 4 to 5" range from Keitech and others, in particular the ones with the paddle tail and slit backs on the baits so a hook tip is not exposed. As someone else has already mentioned, one of the lighter weighted hooks will take a swim bait down and they are largely weedless. A retrieve like one uses on a jerk bait works well, so do various speed smooth retrievals . . . and so does just letting it drop to the bottom and hopping it like a T-Rigged worm. Of course, like so many presentations, you may never actually get to any retrieve as they'll often strike it on the drop. I'm so surprised there aren't more hook manufacturers making longer shanked hooks.

Comments: I love these hooks. I rig senko's on them in either the 3/32 or 1/8 size so they can get down to the grass but not really get hung up in it. Almost all of my strikes come when the senko if falling. The horizontal fall is KEY. My only complaint is I think the spring lock is a little too small and seems to pull out too easy. I also swap them out for the Owner CPS springs.

Comments: I fished the drop dead minnow in bluegill gizzard shad and Herring.THESE ARE SOME KICK ASS BAITS.I fish this in 10 to 15 feet of water. Most of my hits were when I let the minnow drop dead. sometimes the bass would run 50 ft or so with the bait my hookup percentage was not as good as it should be .I could not find the hook for a perfect fit now it is here. THE 5/0 DROP DEAD MINNOW HOOK IS THE LENGTH OF A 7/0.I rigged it up with the minnow a perfect fit.The coil spring is good but if I use the slop hopper I will put a owner cps spring which is better if you are going to use it on other baits. I buy the bulk pack of owner cps springs in medium for .30 cents EACH from TackelWAREHOUSE who is responsible for 90% OF THE BASS I CATCH. good fishing guys
