Overview

Move your fishing to a higher level with the Garmin Force Trolling Motor. The most powerful and efficient trolling motor on the market, the Garmin Force Trolling Motor uses wireless chartplotter connectivity to provide navigation, autopilot, and anchor lock features. Use the precise anchor lock to hold your boat in the same location while you fish. The Garmin Force Trolling Motor includes a convenient wireless foot pedal that delivers instant control and responsiveness, yet feels and steers like a cable-steered pedal. See more fish and structure clearly with integrated Ultra High-Definition scanning sonar. It also includes a handheld remote control with built-in sunlight-readable display. The remove gives you complete control of the Garmin Force Trolling Motor and simple point-and-go gesture steering.

Powerful, efficient, and quiet, with the Garmin Force Trolling Motor gives you all three. The powerful Garmin Force Trolling Motor has the power to move you from spot to spot more quickly and stand up better to winds and currents. Even with all that power, it is also the most efficient trolling motor available, so you can count on it to fish all day. And it is still whisper quiet. Its high-efficiency brushless motor operates at either 36 V or 24V. When running at 24V, it delivers comparable thrust to competitor’s 36V motors. The most powerful, most efficient and quiet trolling motor – it’s everything you could want in a trolling motor.

Enjoy the convenience of a wireless foot pedal. The Garmin Force Trolling Motor provides instant control and responsiveness yet feels and steers just like a cable-steered pedal. It operates wirelessly using AA batteries, or – if you prefer – it can be hardwire installed.

Simple integration with your Garmin chartplotter via a wireless connection makes using the built-in autopilot easy. Create routes to your favorite waypoint  and follow tracks while you fish. The built-in autopilot, with integrated heading sensor and GPS, provides anchor lock, heading hold, and cruise control. Check your steering on the unit your chartplotter or sunlight-visible remote display. Just set your track and it will guide you along your course.

The Garmin Force Trolling Motor comes with an integrated transducer with CHIRP traditional and Ultra High-Definition ClearVu and SideVu scanning sonars with imperceptible sonar noise interference. The cable management system protects the built-in transducer cables as well as additional accessories, including the full range of Panoptix and Panoptix LiveScope sonars. Full sonar support for the GPSMAP 8400/8600xsv and ECHOMAP Ultra models only. See the specs for more detail on partial sonar supports.

The included handheld remote control with a sunlight-readable, transflective display offers total control of the trolling motor from anywhere on your boat, along with unique point-and-go gesture steering capabilities. These are also user-programmable keys on the remote, which you can use to control of your chartplotter. No need to worry if the remote takes a trip overboard, because it’s water-resistant and it floats.

Robust and easy to use, the Garmin Force Trolling Motor is built to last. Rugged and durable, the Garmin Force Trolling Motor is easy to deploy, and it’s easy to retract and stow with dual gas springs. Backed by a 3-year warranty and a limited lifetime warranty on the shaft.

Impressed!5 Stars here. Everything about this trolling motor just feels right to me. The wireless foot pedal is extremely responsive. Super quiet, falls into stow position every time. Nice work Garmin!

Comments: I got the Force in August of 2020 and it is the greatest. I fish almost every morning until the water gets hard. There is not a day that I don't appreciate all of its features. The engineering, mechanical and electrical, is fantastic. I used to be a programmer and can't say enough good things about the software engineering -- it is amazing.

Comments: I've had my Garmin Force for almost 1 year. It is a very powerful motor that is quiet. However there are many design flaws that could have been avoided. This motor was not designed by a bass fishermen as it should have been. The power button is in a place where the trolling motor has to be deployed to access it and turn it on. Very inconvenient. The stowing latch does not hold in rough water. The hydraulic assistance then helps to deploy the trolling motor in rough water. This has happened to me twice and is completely unacceptable and dangerous. Garmin's response is to strap the motor while travelling. That is not practical for most. To adjust the depth of the motor you have to tighten and loosen a large threaded thing under the head that is not easy to access. You have to pull the motor up to adjust it. It often comes loose and it effects the steering and ability to anchor lock. I am not completely disappointed with it but I am not completely impressed. I would imagine that a company like Garmin is working on these issues. Or at least I hope they are.

Comments: I bought 1 of these when they first came out. Worked great for a few months. Then everything went wrong. I've went through 4 motors and 4 pedals. Constantly gives trouble. The problem is the wireless pedal. They need to make it with a corded pedal or hang it up. Garmin customers service is awesome, but I have a $3200 motor that I'm gonna give away even though it has a warranty left. I can't risk it anymore during big tournaments.

Comments: Installed had zero issues with linking and updating the trolling motor! Linked perfect with my Garmin ultra! No issues with the pedal! Works flawlessly best troller I've ever used. Powerful quiet and easy to deploy and stow! Quality product!

Comments: Wish I could agree with the other reviews. I purchased this for my Triton. I was very excited, especially since this was the winner of all the Icast awards. Have not been able to get this to work properly. One fishing trip and two fishing tournaments down and still not working correctly. Main issues is with the foot pedal. Had it hooked to the boat power supply wouldn't work. Called Garmin, they sent me a new pedal.  Wouldn't work, even with batteries. Called again, received yet another pedal, still will not work. Update: The third foot pedal was able to sync with the trolling motor. First, the good. Unbelievably powerful trolling motor! Now for the bad. Huge piece of equipment. Can't dock on the port side because of how much hangs over the rail. Second, I had to use a battery instead of hardwiring it :( When you sync the foot pedal, the trolling motor may flash green as it updates the foot pedal (instructions didn't mention that). Heal part of the foot pedal is very narrow. My size 11 shoe keeps hitting the anchor lock. I don't think you can adjust the sensitivity of the foot pedal, doesn't feel anything like a cable steer. If you have Panoptix transducer, hard to get it through the weeds! I don't have much of a need for the remote, but it's cool & works well. One more update.  If you use you're trolling motor as a depth finder (like I do!) expect to be buying replacement skegs.  They seem to break easily.

Comments: Great Unit. I had Terrova with i pilot for 4 years, brushes and wiring shot after water incursion, terrible service from Minnkota so tried Garmin, glad i did. I'm 74 and not real tecky but installed it while in my boat slip and with the great help from Garmin techs got it going. The terrova blew way of course with wind gusts my force catches it much quicker 5 foot or so and holds. It looks big on boat but mounted correctly doesn't interfere with docking or buddy seats I have in bow. Can't say I've used foot pedal but love the remote, I have fused ankle so standing and running TM is not option this thing is great for one legged guys like me. I fish hard using the trolling or spot lock most of the time. Blue toothed with my 126 Ultra Echo and Pansonic makes my rig a catching machine, have had three long calls with Garmin tech, young guys hung with me and helped with updates and operator ignorance every time, they are in Kansas not India also with a unit sitting in front of them while describing what to do. Garmin did good! Tackle Warehouse did too with military discount and no tax.

Comments: After my 3rd multiple hour phone call with customer support I am warning you that by buying this motor you are joining the Garmin test crew. And don't think you will get away with 24v operation... The minimum voltage for this motor is 20!! 20 volts is the threshold of owning a paperweight. I was told I need 4 gauge wire to consider using 24 v... And I bought the thing hoping to save on battery weight and not sacrifice performance...  Not cool man, not cool. IDK who researched these things for 5 years but it wasn't a fisherman who actually fished. That's not evening mentioning the software bugs and the fact I have to pay 300 to get a replacement pedal that's 4 weeks out... And then get my money back after I mail the defective one back on my dime!

Comments: Pros: First impressions, the Garmin Force is a game awesome. I come from a 24v Ultrex and I fish on a river with a ton of current. The Garmin will keep me spot locked in current at 30-40% power that my ultrex took everything it had to hold and would still drift back slightly. And I have the Garmin wired at 24V until I upgrade batteries. The power is incredible. It is also the quietest trolling motor I have ever heard. My Ultrex (which I loved) was much louder, and had significantly more vibration. The Garmin is as smooth as it gets. And I anticipate much more performance when I switch to 36V. The install was easy, the dual gas shock is very easy. I did opt to upgrade to Garmin EchoMap Ultra which hooked up well. Overall I love the motor, and have no regrets.
Cons: couple small design things I thought they could have done better. 1) I am not impressed with the wire management. They must not make coiled wires in the gauges Garmin uses, because they just have wire looped around the trolling motor shaft at the top. You would think there was a cleaner solution for this for $3100. 2) the shaft adjustment knob is on the bottom of the mount, making it not very convenient to adjust height on the fly. 3) if the let the trolling motor all the way down it runs a small potential of pinching the wiring, and it does not allow the motor to stow properly. If the adjustment knob was on the top, it would let the trolling motor down right where it needed to be to stow properly. A bit of a design flaw if you ask me.
Outside of a couple design issues though, I can't emphasize enough how much power this motor has and how quiet it is. It is a bit larger than the Ultrex, but once it is on the boat it doesn't seem too bulky. And I put it on a 18' aluminum bass boat. The trolling motor pedal will take some getting used to coming from an Ultrex, but I don't see it is a deal breaker at all. It feels good, and I am sure will get used to with time. As far as reliability, time will tell. It is new and have used it twice, but so far I am extremely impressed.

Comments: My overall, honest review. For as much as this motor costs, I don't think they thought through everything as well as the Lowrance guys did on the Ghost motor. Don't like the electronic panel on the bracket. Makes it impossible to stand on the motor to sight fish. Also to adjust shaft length is about impossible without picking the Motor up out of the water halfway or laying on the deck because the length adjustment knob is under the bracket...? The Bluetooth pedal has bad lag for trying to turn around quickly in a dock stall. Spot lock is decent. Brushless motor is nice and speed tho. All in all would have gone Lowrance motor.

From: John: 12/8/19

Comments: Love it! My Force Trolling Motor has really changed my game. It cuts through milfoil like butter with the torque and brush less motor. Also, it is the quietest motor I have ever used. Another thing I really like is the wireless foot pedal. It gives the feeling of a lot more deck space especially when flipping a jig into tight cover. Highly recommend to anyone looking to improve their fishing game.

From: Austin: 12/4/19

Comments: The anchor lock occasionally wanders off but this could be due to poor calibration by me. If you get this trolling motor and anchor lock near any standing structure such as docks, just be alert so you don't run into anything and scratch your boat up. Other than that it is a great trolling motor, very expensive but you get what you pay for and garmin is the new wave.

From: Owen F: 10/17/19

Comments: Bought this a few weeks ago for my Ranger 188, best trolling motor on the market imo. I've used Minn Kota for years and it blows the ultrex out of the water (no pun intended). Garmin thought of everything when they designed this motor, from the point and go remote all the way to the silence of the motor! I have it connected to 2 93sv chart plotters as well as the panoptix livescope. All of these things give me a huge advantage over other tournament fishermen. As for performance the motor goes almost 4mph at top speed, if I want I could add another battery and make it 36vlt but I think that would be overkill. I can fish all day in strong winds with spot lock and it barely makes a dent in the battery's. It's an expensive investment but hey it's not how much you spend it's how much fun you have!
