Fantastic ReelPicked this reel up early this winter to replace another older one and was impressed with first use, paired it with 7'4" MH Fast action stick and 17lb. floro , set adjustments and this rig was skipping baits with ease and has plenty of power to pull the fish outta cover. Would highly recommend this reel .

Skipping DocksNever had a rod/reel setup to skip docks. Paired this with Jordan Lee’s dock skipping rod and really works great. You will need some practice if you havent done it before. Im still getting use to it and have to turn the brakes all the way up.

Best Skipping on the MarketI have 6 of these reels and are absolutely Awsome. You get it dialed in and go to work picking apart bushes docks boar houses. Can't go wrong buying this workhorse of a reel. This reel is a great reel to teach a young person how to use a baitcaster not much line wasted due to the spool size.

Pitching, Flipping and Skipping excellence!!This is the only reel I use for flipping into heavy cover, 65lb-80lb braid, and the drag locked down! No flex in the frame, and rock solid! The spool capacity is perfect for those of us that change line frequently...I get about 35 yds of 80lb braid and almost 40yds of 65lb braid on the oversize spool. The magnetic drag on this reel is the best in its class for this type of technique specific reel. I own three and have tried multiple brands, but this reel does it so well, there is no need to buy anything else for skipping and pitching!!

Team Lew's Pro SPLove this reel as my main type of fishing is skipping lures under docks at my lake. Its construction and smooth casting ability make this the perfect baitcaster for me! I own two of them and maybe more in the future!

The king of skipping reelsI now own 5 of these and one day hope that ALL my rods have one of these attached. It's the only bait-casting reel I can consistently skip a bait with that's not a spinning reel. Smooth as silk, hard to backlash, and built strong.

Great reel! For flipping, pitching and skipping this reel is the perfect. Saves on line and backlashes are quickly fixed. Moreover, Tackle Warehouse replaced the wrong reel I ordered (my fault) with the correct one super fast and at no cost to me. Great reel and GREAT customer service!!

Comments: Awesome reel. I have not tried skipping yet but it is a great reel for flipping and pitching. Super smooth and there is no need for 100+ yards of one on your big stick.

From: Mike: Lusby, MD 8/11/23

Comments: I like the Pro SP. It backlashes less than a straight magnetic and seems to have the same distance on a bomb. I would buy another at this point.

From: Joe: Crandon 6/22/23

Comments: Don't usually do reviews but this is an absolutely legit reel, Perfect compact size super strong and durable reel. A little nervous about it being so small and worried about flex on short line hook sets but absolutely no flex and great heavy duty drag. It's a workhorse flipping reel and palms easy for easy access on the thumb bar for repetitive use. Just a super comfortable lite reel all together and after some seriously hard use am very happy with it and confident they will hold up.

From: Mike : Ca 5/7/23

Comments: Absolute game changer! The old professional overrun is no more... most important thing is it's easy to skip which equals more casts and more bites.

From: Vern: Wichita, Kansas 5/5/23

Comments: Not really that impressed. It may be a great reel if you have only had basic starter baitcasters, but if you have used something like the Diawa Tatula SV (same price point) and then switch to this, it is obvious that this is nowhere near the reel that the Tatula SV is. For skipping, the Diawa is hands down superior and you have the option to load more line too. I have two Lew's reels and won't likely get any others due to liking the Diawa so much better. I think this reel is usable, but nothing special.

From: Mike: Nebraska 4/11/23

Comments: The Lews Pro SP Casting Reel was way better than I expected. I am extremely satisfied with its performance. Castability is 100%, no backlash, no matter the size or weight of the lure. I would recommend Tackle Warehouse to everyone because they're warranty and reliability is beyond any other place I've ordered from.

From: Robert: SAN ANTONIO 2/25/23

Comments: ok so if you do not know how to flip/skip already... go learn before you buy this reel. I have seen some reviews of guys crying about it not feathering well or some other such nonsense. I FLIP A LOT. This reel has been a real jewel. The shallow spool is perfect because it will allow you to flip more and fix backlashes less. WIN WIN.

From: Unknown: 2/21/23

Comments: Reels are light as a feather They due decrease the amount of backlashing as well as time involved in picking line out due to the smaller amount of line Still takes a trained thumb in my opinion Overall a decent product I have purchased 4 reels.

From: Unknown: 1/18/23

Comments: I bought one of these because I do a lot of skipping. If you are already good at skipping then this reel is not for you. If my thumb just touches the spool like I normally would feather the bait out the spool stops. I would have to re-train myself how not to feather the spool and then it would throw off my technique with all of my other reels.

From: Greg: Maryland 12/31/22

Comments: Lew's Team Pro SP Speed Spool Casting Reel Just used this reel over the weekend and have to say I'm impressed. I tried skipping with a baitcaster before and, well, we all know how that usually works out. I put 20lb fluorocarbon on this with the 7'1" Andy Montgomery Skipping rod and caught several nice bass on my first day trying it. I recommend the 7'1" if you are at least 5'10" tall. The 6'9" if you're shorter. Andy is 6'3" so he uses the longer one. There's a great video on YouTube with Edwin Evers and Andy on skipping jigs under docks like a pro. I used Andy's skipping jig (1/2oz), and the rage bug which is his favorite trailer and I was getting it under docks farther than I ever could. Even further than a spinning rod and stickworm. I actually had to get on someone's dock to free my jig because I went so far under and got hung up on a cross beam I couldn't even see. I recommend setting this reel to 9 on the braking system, tightening the tension knob to were the bait will slowly fall to the ground and not overrun very much when it hits the ground and adjust to your preference from there. I picked the 8.3:1 speed because I can reel it in faster, make more casts, and catch up to the fish better because a lot of times the fish grab the bait and come right at you. Higher speed picks the line up faster and can help get a better hookset. Hope this helps someone.

From: Austin: FL 10/24/22

Comments: I bought two of these and they are as good as advertised. Use them on flippin sticks with a jig and beaver style baits. Would definitely recommend them.

From: Brad: Brainerd , Mn 10/13/22

Comments: I have two of these reels, one for skipping swim jigs around docks and one for flipping. Both work great. I love the shallow spool. Not only does it help with skipping but the line it saves from not having to use 100yds to respool is a plus.

From: Bryan: Missouri 7/9/22

Comments: I have an old Lew's Speed Spool and some very old Lew's Speed Stick (from the late 60's) rods. When I saw the Pro SP, I decided to match it up with my St. Croix Legend Elite Heavy Moderate Fast 7'11" pitching and flipping rod. I run 65# braid on it and so far, I love everything about it. Seems like a solid reel and it sure hasn't let me down. The 8.3:1 gear ratio saves me a lot of retrieval time in a day of fishing laydowns and mats and it has caught up with every fish so far, even the ones that run straight back at my kayak. I like Lew's and the guys who represent them. Needless to say, I'm impressed.

From: Steve: Weatherford 6/25/22

Comments: Fantastic reel for skipping or pitching once you match it to the right rod. Almost No backlashes, smooth action and fast retrieve. Absolutely love it! Outperforms most of my more expensive reels.

From: Ken: Grand Rapids, MI 6/18/22

Comments: I absolutely love this reel. As a "beginner" I've found it tough and frustrating to use the baitcasting reels. Due to my inexperience, I was constantly back lashing. This reel ended that headache quick. I put this reel on my swimjig rod and I'll be ordering another or two soon. I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

From: Justin: Wisconsin Rapids, WI 5/8/22

Comments: The reel is great for skipping under trees and docks. It's also great for Pitching and once you set the reel up, you get no black lashes.

From: Charles: Florida 5/7/22

Comments: The Lew's SP reel is a smooth pitching machine. I like the feel of the Left handed pitch. Makes for a nice motion to pitch or skip. Will use a lot!

From: Terry: Lindsay, OK 5/6/22

Comments: My favorite reels! Line Capacity is great for skipping jigs or flipping. Very smooth with a great drag! I have replaced all of my Diawa Tatula's with this reel.

From: Chris: Palmyra Va. 4/30/22

Comments: Great reel, it doesn't have a tremendous amount of line and much easier to untangle when you backlash. For bank fishermen like myself this is a really good reel. I'll be purchasing more.

From: Jeff: Poplar Bluff, MO 4/30/22

Comments: It works great for skipping and pitching. Limited line capacity helps with backlashes, would not be enough line for long casts. If you are looking for a versitale reel, try one of lews other great products.

From: Unknown: 4/21/22

Comments: I understand this reel was designed for 20 lb fluorocarbon, but... I spooled it with 20 lb Berkley X9 and run a 16 lb Sunline leader. This is an amazingly smooth reel. It is my go to pitching reel. With the braid you get extra line capacity which allows you to skip and pitch deeper docks and cover without worry.

From: Mike: Illinois 4/17/22

Comments: This is a great reel! Almost impossible to backlash when you dial it in. Skipping, casting into the wind all made very easy.

From: Michael: Orange Park 4/5/22

Comments: Great reel. Bought one in the past and decided to buy another. Great reel for skipping, flipping, and pitching. Reduces the risks of backlashes. I would recommend this to anyone starting with a baitcaster. Well worth the money!

From: Dave: Illinois 3/31/22

Comments: Well this is an amazing reel my new favorite. I was able to 70 metres of siglon pe braid 20 pounds on them. I could not help myself I got 3 . One for small crank baits one for light plastics and one for skipping jigs. They work very well for all applications. Over all very impressed with them.

From: Greg : Rileys Hill, Australia 3/20/22

Comments: Does everything they say it will. Definitely will up you skipping game

From: Angelo: Deland, FL 1/17/22

Comments: Super smooth, very light, excellent for skipping. Don't love the knobs. Would rather have paddles or Winn grips but that's just a preference.

From: Paul: Laurel 1/10/22

Comments: Yes indeed, this reel is fantastic for all skipping presentations and it makes it easy to gain confidence and become proficient quickly..However; nobody has mentioned the OTHER awesome things the shallow spool accomplishes..Firstly, when I spool it with braid and slam a hookset the braid does NOT dig into the braid on the spool rendering the drag system useless like on conventional spools..The shallow spool simply doesn't allow it therefore I can still get that slight slip on hookset and also still have a functioning drag system as needed..Secondly, I love straight flouro for my squarebills and cranking in general and the shallow spool with less line keeps the flouro from birdnesting itself horribly like what I have experienced far too many times along with some bad words..I fish in the Oklahoma wind and my casting distance with crankbaits has actually increased over traditional spools helping me sack my personal best limit of 24-11 this fall season..Th e drag, tensioning knob and braking system all utilize the "clicking" system for more precise adjustments..Lastly, it is super quick, easy and cost effective to change out line or switch line size since it only takes 40 yards to re-spool..This reel will pay for itself over time with line savings alone!!!... I have 3 of these now and will be adding more to my arsenal as needed over time..First major breakthrough in baitcaster technology in a long time IMO..

From: Mac: Stillwater, OK 1/4/22

Comments: I received the Lew's Team pro SP for Christmas to add to my other 40 Lew's Reels. I was very impressed with the reel.I like the size of the spool for skipping docks. The reel is just the right size to fit my hand and is very smooth. Great job Lew's on this reel This is a keeper....

From: Ken: Mt.Olive, AL 12/29/21

Comments: Works as advertised, has given me the confidence and made me a much better skip caster.

From: Gary: Titusville, FL 12/25/21

Comments: This appears to be an extremely versatile reel, and I have purchased four of them over the past year. The first was used to troll bottom bouncers for walleye in a rocky basalt canyon; backlashes are inevitable with this technique, so being able to clear line quickly is critical to landing a good limit before the hot bite ends. This reel does a good job of that, and I plan to get another one for this purpose next spring. One of the reels I recently bought will be used with 50 lb braid for casting hollow-body frogs to bass in weed beds, so I will have to wait until next summer to see how that works out. The last 2 reels will be used on medium-light rods for casting hard topwater baits and hard jerkbaits, which I have done with spinning tackle until now. I guess they call this magnum bfs fishing. Since the reels were designed for skipping with heavy line, I am interested to see how they do with 6-10 lb line light lures (1/8-3/8 oz). I'm sure there are better reels out there for ultralight bfs. I am sure not the world's best baitcaster caster, so I hope this reel can solve my backlash problems; if it does, it will revolutionize the modern casting reel! If it doesn't work as claimed, I will right another review to set the record straight.

From: outdoorjim2: 12/19/21

Comments: Solid reel! Perfect for skipping jigs under docks especially when learning the process. I would also use this reel for one of my go to rods as the shallow spool holds enough line for most applications.

From: Jon: NC 12/5/21

Comments: Been fishing for a while and won a national tournament. I have become more technique specific and this just works as intended. Even the best get backlashes on skips and this makes it easier. Which means more time. One or two more casts can make a difference. This reel gives you that. As you pass that dock you aren't picking out line when the perfect angle presents itself. Heck, the confidence you get from knowing you are good also helps. If you want to go with technique specific and have one tool for the job get this reel. If you are the crescent wrench for everything guuy.. you probably wonâ•Â˙t want it.

From: Jon : Tampa 11/29/21

Comments: Lew's Team Pro SP reel is worth every penny. Use less line only 40 yards. Will have you skipping docks with ease. I have purchased a total of three of these reels.

From: Unknown: 11/1/21

Comments: I now have a total of three of these reels! Very pleased with its performance and would definitely purchase again.

From: Todd: Unknown 10/15/21

Comments: Fair price, slick little reel. If you have been trying to master the skip, This new one from Lews is the one to try. Right outta the box, I loaded 40# braid and went to the lake and started making perfect 30' skips

From: Dave: Akron,Ohio 44319 9/29/21

Comments: I was hoping for BIG things with this reel but unfortunately it is only a subpar reel with a shallow spool. It has quite a bit of play in in the gears too. Lew's have some nice reels but this one missed the mark. If it were built a little bit tighter I would give it 6 stars but it is a 5 star reel at best

From: Florida 9/4/21

Comments: After a couple of months I'm just not as impressed with this reel as others are. It's ok, but for $200 there are better reels out there for skipping. I have several Lews reels I love, but this one, I wish I would have gone with a different reel.

From: Virginia 8/28/21

Comments: I have about 15 other Lew's bait-casters and I am very happy with this new SP reel. It does everything that the advertising says that it should do and does it well.

From: George: Salisbury, NC 8/26/21

Comments: This reel is nearly bullet proof when it comes to not blowing up even on a bad cast. It has all the features built right in for total cast control. I can turn everything up and cast it as hard as I want and not touch the spool without any backlash. The price seems a little high as this reel is in no way as smooth and refined as other reels in this same price range. It would be great to have this reel in a slower speed to use just running down the bank as 40 yards of 20 LB gives you plenty of line and if you ran 15 LB for beating the bank this reel would be perfect. It does exactly what they claim and time will tell how well it holds up. I have a few Chronarch MGL and Corado K reels that feel smoother and heavier for the same price point.

From: Hamilton: Phenix City, AL 8/23/21

Comments: The Lews Team Pro SP Reel has got me to skip jigs under docks with little or no problems. I paired it with a Dobyns skipping rod

From: Unknown: California 8/23/21

Comments: I have 3 Lews baitcasters; this one, the Tournament Pro LFS and the Custom Lite SLP.  While I like all my Lews very much, this one, the Team Pro SP is probably my favorite. The fact that it holds much less line is a benefit to me.  I can bomb a lure way out there and still have more than enough line; granted I'm using 10 mono. I've only backlashed it once, it wasn't bad and was easy to fix since there wasn't a 1000 yards of line on it. I wish more baitcasters had lower capacity spools like this. I admit I use it as a general purpose reel for my river smallmouth gear; not skipping lures etc.  The faster retrieve is nice as it lets me work a spot and reel in quick if necessary. The handle grips are big and comfortable and the geometry of the reel is nice too. I've had it soaked in the river a couple times and still works like its new.  Just a fantastic reel and for $200 probably hard to beat. I've used it a lot in the last month and I can't think of a negative thing about it.

From: Jason: Indiana 8/11/21

Comments: Own several Lew's baitcasters and have never been disappointed.  Happy to have added the Pro SP to my fishing arsenal.  It has become my main reel now because it can actually do it all, using 7 ft medium Lew's rod with 16 lb fluorocarbon.

From: Ken: Deltona, FL 8/10/21

Comments: Nice small and light. Does what it says, nice strong drag but, if your going to spend 200 might as well get a reel that can do more.  I personally wish I would have just spent another 80$ and got another jdm metanium. If you want a setup that is strictly for skipping under docks, this is a good buy. But it's not as special as youtube videos act like it is.

From: Matt: Joplin, MO 8/8/21

Comments: Very easy to use have bought around 22 Lew's reels over the last few years love all of them great reels

From: Bob: 8/6/21

Comments: Will not make you able to magically skip a jig, will however, help you get the backlashes out easily while you learn. The ease of getting the backlashes out will help your confidence, which is the most critical element of skipping a jig.

From: Joe: Pennsylvania 8/5/21

Comments: It works very well, easy to skip and pitch and light weight

From: Unknown: 7/31/21

Comments: This is a fantastic reel. It's light weight yet very strong. I pair it with a 7'2 MH XF rod with 20lb flouro. I can skip a jig across town with this set-up! Very happy with my purchase.

From: Dayton: Michigan 7/30/21

Comments: Classy smooth reel, easy to set brakes, light weight. It's a great reel, I will buy another one!!!

From: Dave: LA 7/29/21

Comments: Reel works well and concept is excellent. It is however nothing special and in my opinion does not perform significantly better than a similar reel with a strip of electrical tape limiting the depth to which you might backlash the reel.

From: Unknown 7/24/21

Comments: Bought one of these last fall.  Loved it, then couldn't get another one for months.  Finally got my second one and am using it for jig pitching/skipping/flipping as the first one always has a Jackhammer on it.  Really wondering why I need to put more than 40 yards on any reel anymore.  With 16 or 17 pound flouro you can't cast it far enough for the knot to matter.  With 20 you can but it's to far to set the hook anyway.  I like em and will be replacing reels that wear out with them except for deep cranking and C-rig maybe.

From: Tom: Kansas 7/22/21

Comments: The Lew's Team Pro SP works great, since I got this one, I got 2 more for pitchin' and flipping.

From: Mike: Unknown 7/23/21

Comments: With 20 lb. test and the correct baits, this reel makes skipping easy.

From: Harry: Lexington, KY 7/23/21

Comments: Great reel, just won a ABA tournament  with the help  of this fine asset to my fishing equipment

From: Mike: Unknown 7/15/21

Comments: Solid reel in every way. Like others have said, not impossible to backlash, but much easier and faster to pick it out.  I use it for everything other than deep cranking. If you're thinking about investing your money in an elite reel, this is the one to get!  Flip like a dolphin, pitch like Nolan Ryan!  You can do it with this reel.

From: Shelby: Bearden, AR 7/12/21

Comments: This is my first experience with Lew's products.  After Watching the skipping guru Andy Montgomery do a show on TV I decided it was time to make myself learn how to skip.  Skipping has been the weakest part of my casting game and I know it is costing me fish.  Replacing line after reel blow ups gets expensive and frustrating.   So I decided to start with Andy's own design skipping rod and this reel setup to see if I could speed up the learning curve and save some dollars.  And it is working as advertised.  The reel more so than the rod has really helped my skipping, and can be used for flip/pitch/cast just the same.  And there isn't anything thing wrong with the rod either.  I guess I'm kind of using it like a set of training wheels so I can then become proficient skipping with any bait caster.  But I don't see this combo leaving my boat.

From: Unknown: Bloomington, IN 7/11/21

Comments: This reel is very well made and compact. It also makes a great finesse reel if you're interested. The tolerances on the reel are so good you can use 4 lb test line and it does not get between the spool and the frame. The reel also does what it was designed for very well. It has to be set up according to the weight you are using. This reel cast really well and has no side to side spool play. It really does everything and is very smooth. Great reel!

From: Eddie: Kentucky 7/4/21

Comments: Over the last few years I have bought nothing but Lews reels. They have all been excellent. Now I have the new SP model and even though I dont do a lot of skipping this reel is the best so far for pitching that I have. Matched up on a 7'2" MH rod it is perfect for me.

From: Unknown: Magnolia, AR 7/2/21

Comments: This is a great reel so far.  Smooth and makes a big difference in skipping and pitching baits. I Will probably get another soon.

From: JC: Pennsylvania 7/3/21

Comments: Honestly I was skeptical about this reel at 1st, wondering if it was for real or just some marketing tactic. I ordered one to try out for myself, now I own two of them. Their not magic, but they sure improved my skipping game. I have one rigged up with 20 pound fluorocarbon for heavier applications and the other rigged with 17 pound fluorocarbon for lighter applications. You can still backlash the reel but with the shallow spool itâs easy to dig out. With this reel I spend more time fishing and less time digging out backlashes / changing line. I'm very satisfied with this purchase.

From: Mark: Murfreesboro, Tn

Comments: I have used these reels for a few months.  I pitch and fish heavy cover primarily.  They work as advertised.  I will buy more in the future.   When you purchase a Lew's reel there is a bonafide support system behind their products.  Excellent products, great service and a fair price what's left?

From: Mark: Gainesville 4/7/21

Comments: I am a big time Lew's guy and when this reel came out, I had to have one...just for the skipping. It is a fantastic reel and I can skip better with this reel than any of my others. Also good for short cast situations. I hope they make it in a 6.3 version (or similar). Gonna own more

Comments: I don't normally give reviews much but this reel definitely deserves one. First off I'm big lews fan but don't get me wrong I tell it like it is. By far best reel on the market for flipping and pitching out there.

Comments: Love it and buying more!!  I told a buddy of mine to try this reel to help him with skipping and pitching.  He did and I was so impressed I bought one.  The 40 yard spool is brilliant.  It casts as far as you want with 16 pound flouro.  I use it for "normal" fishing as well as skipping and pitching.  Going to get 2 more.  Will use them for nearly everything except deep cranking and C-rig.  Not to mention the cost savings of not having to put so much expensive line on like traditional reels.  Great product Lew's, you have converted me.

Comments: This is a fantastic reel!  It truly makes skipping easy. when you do backlash the shallow spool makes picking it out easy. Highly recommended

Comments: I am a lews angler. This reel did not disappoint. I personally am using the pro so to flip and pitch. Works great for skipping, but at times I completely unspool real. Again this is another great reel from Lews.

From: Joe: Camden, TN 3/12/21

Comments: I am using the reel on my flipping rod with very good results. The limited line capacity works well as I occasionally still have an issue with backlash when flipping lighter weighted lures. I have not tried to use it for skipping due to the rod it is mounted on therefore I am unable to comment on that. It works very well for what I am using it for. My other reels are all Abu Garcia Revo SX and Rockets. This was my first Lews reel and I am pleasantly surprised with its performance.

Comments: This reel is great. The brake is easy to learn and skipping and flipping is much easier.

From: Casey: Purcell 3/12/21

Comments: I absolutely love this reel! As far as the reel not backlashing, that is not the case. You still have to pay attention when skipping or you will be pulling off all 40 yards of line. Choose the correct line as well. Do not put cheap line on this reel or you will regret it very quickly. I give the reel a 10/10

Comments: Very impressed with this reel. I was able to teach my wife, who had never used a baitcasting reel before, to both cast and pitch consistently in about 20 minutes.  She is very excited about hitting the lakes with this expanded capability. The well engineered design of this reel definitely eliminated many of backlash problems found on reels with a larger spool. Well worth the money and I will be buying another as soon as they are back in stock.

Comments: I am typically a Daiwa reel user but I do have a limited amount of Lews reel that I frequently use and I must say that adding the Pro Sp Speed Spool to my arsenal is the best addition yet. It does exactly what it is designed to do and it is extremely user friendly. It has definitely enhanced my skipping skills to a level I thought I'd never reach which skyrocketed my confidence to skip a lure...many thanks to the team of Lews pros and their tech guys who took the time to develop and make the Pro SP Speed Spool for the fishing enthusiast. Definitely worth the money!!

From: James: Killeen, Texas 2/19/21

Comments: Reel works as advertised after some minor adjustments. I am more interested in pitching then skipping and worked great in that technique. Thinking about purchasing another  one but agree with other viewers about the price might be a little high.

From: Randall: Fredericksburg, VA 2/14/21

Comments: While I own many Lews reels, this one did not impress me. I actually think I might have gotten a defective one, as I noticed two of the six break pins did not rotate up as far as the others. I emailed Lews about it, but never received a response. I returned it due to poor customer service on the part of Lews.

From: Shane: WI 2/11/21

Comments: Does not hold much line but performs really well.

Comments: I use Lews reels. Tournament pros and older g models and BB1 pro speed spool. All are at the $199.00 price point. I got the SP a few days ago and have been lawn casting in the snow. It is very compact with a narrow spool. You can get 50 yds of 17# fluorocarbon on it. For me, that is plenty of line for the rod I have it on. It feels great. Can it back lash? Yes, of course. With less line, that is not a tragic event. I like it. I wish Lews made spools with less line capacity for general use. I can skip a baitcaster but the back lashes are a time waster when on the water. This will help in that regard. I will try it with 20# and braid soon. Nice little reel.

From: Terry D: 2/4/21

Comments: I'm not impressed with this reel. It's just like any other reel with shorter line capacity. In my opinion, it's overrated and overpriced.

From: Unknown: 2/3/21

Comments: I ordered this reel a few weeks ago and it just didn't seem to perform as advertised. I noticed that 2 of the 6 pins didn't rotate up up as high as the others, likely affecting the breaking system. I emailed Lew's and never received a response, so I returned it. I think I'm up to 16 or 17 different Lew's models (purchased prior to the Lew's buyout in 2016), and have been happy with most of them. Thinking I may have just gotten a bad one with this purchase, however, Lew's lack of response is concerning.

From: Shane: WI 1/27/21

Comments: Came across the YOU TUBE video with KVD, and had ordered the reel for my wife (backlash reasons), instead I tried it out first on a Kistler ZBone MH modified, and it performed exactly as promoted. Very smooth, made skipping a breeze without any backlashes. Great drag, just remember to tighten before using, I have a habit of that. Have an email notification when the Warehouse replenishes their stock. Will definitely being buying more. Lews is all that I use, and could be happier with this reel.

From: Terry: Corpus Christi, TX 1/15/21

Comments: I bought this reel with the intention to replace some of my skipping with spinning tackle. I briefly tried it out and I think it will do what it was intended. Since I live in the NY area and it's a bit cold I have given it a real test. I'm looking forward to using it come spring.

From: Tom S: Monroe, NY 1/5/21

Comments: This reel is real smooth, and skips a mile. 100% recommend for skipping/pitching.

Comments: Very nice reel helped my skipping quickly!

Comments: Best reel on the market for skipping and pitching.. period! Lews has done it again!

From: Aaron: Florida 1/2/21

Comments: If you are wondering like I was at this real can be used as a finesse real this is what I am using it for 15 lb braid to a 10lb leader on a Shimano expride medium light medium 7 ft 2 finesse jig I have used this for two months now it works great for this also.

From: Al: Silex, MO 1/2/21

Comments: This reel is awesome does exactly what it is advertised to do has rock solid drag and the spool is great for learning how to a bait caster as well.

From: Joe: Benson, AZ 12/29/20

Comments: It works as advertised for skipping. The spool is just large enough for regular cast but sufficiently small to reduce the chance of a backlash. Reel is smooth and lightweight. I bought this specifically for skipping, pitching and short casts. I am happy so far. Hopefully, it will be as durable as all the other Lews reels I own.

From: Rich: Knoxville, TN 12/27/20

Comments: I own several Lew's reels and each had been a great performer.  The SP intrigued me enough to purchase one.  The reel has no magic voodoo special power to make you an immediate skipping master. What it does provide is a well thought out engineered design.  Like the promos say  the spool is the center of control.  Any over runs are shallow and easy to clear.  The high ratio secured a rapid line pick up and the power handle is just right.  What this reel will do is provide quicker confidence in skipping.  The rod choice and jig style will still be a factor but this reel will make you a more proficient skipper and much quicker. It was a good purchase.

From:  Doug: PNW 12/11/20

Comments: Lew's did it again. This reel was designed for flipping and skipping. As a somewhat novice bait caster, skipping was just too hard. Got this reel, practiced a couple of days in the street and took it to the lake. Awesome, 45 minutes skipping a jig and only one medium backlash. I am completely satisfied and strongly recommend this reel for anyone looking to expand his arsenal.

From: Snuff Thompson: Huntsville, AL 12/9/20

Comments: This reel has made skipping so much easier.I fish the Lake of the Ozarks which is known for docks. This thing is a game changer for me.

From: Chris: Jefferson City, MO 12/7/20

Comments: Awsome reel and perfect match for the KVD GC 7 highly recommend it for the flippin and pitching guys out there.

From: Joe: Benson N.C. 12/3/20

Comments: I love this reel put it on the Tatula Elite 6'9 Skipping Rod, great for skipping the Strike King Tour Grade Skipping Jig with the Strike King Rage Bug . No backlashes!!!!!!!!

From: Chuck: Beaver Dam, Kentucky 11/30/20

Comments: First off I have only used this reel once. However I must say I was blown away by how easy it is to skip this bad boy. I just started skipping this year and all tho I have gotten better at it as the year has gone by this reel has taken my skipping game to the next level. This weekend I fished a ton of docks and was able to get way back using this reel with no run over or very little at all. Let's and Andy did a great job on this reel.i plan to get another one or two. Awesome reel.

From: BILLY: Ruffin, NC 11/30/20

Comments:Still dialing in the reel but it seems to work as advertised. Skipping under docks the first time out went well. Even if you get a backlash it's usually pretty shallow and easy to get out.

From: Ed: Harker Heights, TX 11/30/20

Comments: I bought this reel for a Dobyns DC702C. I figured it would cast the lighter weight lures I use on this rod a bit better since it has a shallow spool and therefore should weigh less than most other Lew's spool weights. I found this to be the case with lures weighted between 3/16-5/8 oz with an 8lb co-polymer line. While not a true BFS reel this comes close and you get centrifugal brakes vs magnetic. I was able to skip Zman TRD lures, 4" unweighted wacky rig senkos, and the smaller unweighted flukes easily undercover which is going to make creek fishing from the kayak even better next spring. I have since ordered a 2nd Lew's Pro SP to pair with a new Dobyns DC610-4C for larger jigs and T-rigs. I'm confident this will make a great combo as well.

From: Jared: Nicholasville, KY 11/30/20

Comments:I ordered one of these to go with my Fitzgerald skipping rod. WOW, what a great combo. The reel is smooth and with the spool knob and magnet adjustments you can skip and cast without any backlashes. The drag and spool knob are click style adjustments and the handle is awesome. Lew's did a good job on the design of thisreel for it's purpose.
