Since their release in 2013, the Megabass Orochi XX series has embodied the intersection between Japanese rod technology and North American bass fishing. Now, after careful testing and refinement in Japan, the US, and Canada, the next stage of the Orochi XX’s Journey is ready to begin with the introduction of the Megabass Orochi XX Casting Rods.

Redesigned to deliver clear performance gains – all while staying true to the core characteristics and intuitive feel of their predecessors, the Megabass Orochi XX Casting Rods leverage advanced X47-ASL Metal Fiber Blank (“kabt”) materials to deliver greater lifting power, torque, lightness, and crispness. Utilizing low-resin carbon of varying tonnage throughout the blank, the Megabass Orochi XX Casting Rods are reinforced with kabt’s metal microfiber material woven into a layered, multi-axis arrangement for astonishing strength and tenacious resilience.

Undergoing subtle refinements to balance points in response to a lighter overall weight, the Megabass Orochi XX Casting Rods are festooned with Fuji Stainless SiC guides that have been precisely placed to highlight the unique properties of each blank. Finished with Megabass’ Spiral Architecture Reel Seats for improved ergonomics, the Megabass Orochi XX Casting Rods stand as a testament to Megabass’ dedication to the American angler.

Comments: Recently purchased a Braillist and in the first two outings I unintentionally landed two 12lb+ catfish while dragging a football jig. Rod did not feel brittle to me and had some good backbone to it. Handled them very well. Good sensitivity with rod tip and I could feel every rock I dragged the jig over as well as subtle bites

Comments: If your on the fence about trying these rods this may help you a bit. I know deciding which one to get is difficult at time because of how MB markets them. While they are "technique oriented" I wanted to share that each model I have is actually much much more flexible than the stupid chart would lead you to believe. If you can only have one , it's the Diablo spec r . It does a bit of everything better than most rods do one thing. If you like shorter rods, the Jerk Bait special is a great top water rod as well as weightless senko and fluke rod. The Flat side special is a square bill dream, but fishes small spinner baits and underspin paddle tails all day long with ease. I also "power shot " with it when my Diablo has something else tied on . The perfect Pitch is a great jig stick. Not super sensitive with light jigs, but very sensitive when the weights go up. Also great at frogs, large spinner baits, buzz baits, 6 inch swim baits, heavy paddle tail rigs, and can throw deep deep cranks pretty well . So there you go ., I know it was wordy but this is a lot of money to throw around so I wanted it to be helpful.

Comments: I've had the Brailliest for a few weeks now. Used it on a half dozen trips or better. There is no doubt that it is an unbelievably sensitive rod that is light and gorgeous. It does feel "brittle" as others have said. That's being compared to a shimano poison adrena and exprides. I love it for dragging football jigs and I can tell I'm going to love it for wobble heads. I highly doubt I'm going to use it for pitching or anything that could be considered "abusive".

Comments: Purchased 8 of these rods back in 2019. After 4 years I've repaired several guides due to poor epoxy, had a reel seat come loose and had to drill holes through the seat and the blank to glue it back in position so It wouldn't spin. I recently stripped 4 of these rods removing the guides, re-wrapping and epoxying. When I bought these rods they were $300. Now they are $350. If you are willing to pay this much for a rod do yourself a favor and purchase something with better quality and a better warranty.

Comments: I switched from dobyns to megabass because I'm tired of sending broken rods back and having to spend $80.00 for a new one. Just ordered my second orochi perfect pitch xx. Also have the whipsnake and shakeyhead. These rods are lighter, more sensitive and definitely more powerful than the champions. My first perfect pitch is set up for striped bass which get to 30lbs and are tanks and this rod brings them in with no problem. My new one will be my magdraft rod. Excellent Rods Megabass!

From: Bass Man: NY 1/23/23

Comments: i can only attest to the brailist and the leviathan rods. I have had the leviathan rod for a couple years now. I use it as my "big bait" rod 8-10" huddelstons and large 10" glide baits as well as A-rigs ive caught several LMB in the 3-6 pound range and the rod handled those fish flawlessly. this past weekend i took this rod out with 8" glide baits and caught my new pb striper of 26 lbs the leviathan rod made fighting the fish incredibly easy. I have not had any problems with the rod or any of the components. My one and only complaint however is I do wish there was a slightly bigger hand hook under the grip. As far as the Brailist goes. In my opinion, it is a perfect bottom contact medium to heavy wire jig/Texas rig rod. The sensitivity is on par with the dobyns xtasy and gloomis conquest with a better back bone. Honestly I believe for the price point of these rods you can not go wrong. Also I am throwing 65 lb braid on both rods no leader haven't had a ny problems with eyes or reel seats.

From: Chris: Ca 8/22/22

Comments: I have never done product reviews, but I regret buying this so much I feel like I need to warn others. This is the worst balanced rod I have ever felt. Aslo the components and quality of the build resembles that of an $80 rod.

From: Unknown: Minnesota 7/19/22

Comments: Perfect pitch was the 1st megabass rod I've ever owned and it worked great for about a year and a half then snapped boat flipping a bass under two pounds.  Rod was never abused and it still looks brand new. Recently purchased the x bites and it also has that stiff brittle feeling but hopefully it can handle all the 1 1/2 lb fishes I catch.  Pros great looking rod with great action. Cons heavy and trigger geometry is off on both megabass rods I have.

From: Unknown: Shasta Lek, CA 4/14/21

Comments: I would avoid buying these rods. I have broken perfect pitch, swingfire, flatside special, EMTF and diablo Spec. I'm not sure what the deal is with them but something is wrong for sure. worse part is I replaced them all and their replacements broke as well. Now im being charged 60% to replace the replacements because its been over year. I couldn't even fish with for 5 months of it because of the weather. Buy something else is my advise.

From: Jessie: Clarksville, TN 4/12/21

Comments: I'm a huge Megabass fan - bought this rod a couple months ago the EMTF... I have so many rods did not really have any specific baits for it in mind when you bought it - but after using wow is it perfect for mid diving cranks - 8-12 feet - this rod really launches crankbaits unlike any crankbait rod own. The parabolic bend really keeps the bass /stripers pinned. No need to hustle your fish in - let this rod do the work - seriously you'll be amazed at the casting distance with cranks on the EMTF.

From: Dean: Las Vegas, NV 12/19/20

Comments: The Orochi and Levante Perfect Pitch rods break easy.  Mostly on the hookset.  I have had 4 or 5 of these rods and all of them have broken on the hookset.  Only one of them on a bass over 1.5 pounds. I am currently on month 4 waiting for a replacement rod for the Orochi (that I upgraded to over the Levante because I thought it would not break as easy).  All of these rods were broken while using 17 pound Fluorocarbon on a 3/8 ounce jig in OPEN water.  These rods were never misused and stayed in their sleeve that they come with. They were also transported only in my truck - not in a rod locker.  I have owned a lot of rods in the $150-$250 range and have never had one of them break with this setup.

From: Jrob: Ky 12/1/20

Comments: I bought a leviathan and mounted a 300 size tranx on it and after a week somehow the reel seat broke, so that's a bummer. Otherwise it's a great rod and handles swimbaits so well.

From: Ronin - Delaware 8/24/20

Comments: I have the 7'5 Braillist and it is the nicest rod I have had the pleasure to fish with. My friends have IMX pros and NRG rods. I would rather use this rod. I use it for bottom contact baits and mostly jigs. It loads up perfectly. It has great action and a ton of back bone for lifts and hook sets. I can feel every piece of grass and every pebble with this rod. I will be getting more. Do yourself a favor and get one.

From: Tyler S.: CA 7/9/20

Comments: These rods are light and sensitive there is no doubt about that. I would compare them with a IMX maybe a little better But they snap like a twig. I have broken my spec r twice now. I have also broken a flateside special with a pitch perfect. Megabass replace them quick but for this price they shouldn't break on hook set or trying to snap a jig off a snag. I will never buy them again. Seems like I always adventure away from Dobyns just to come right back.

From: Jessie: Clarksville, TN 7/2/20

Comments: Needed a new rod, so I decided to grab the Jerkbait special. Used the classic ole Vision 110 and managed to get some nice fish on it. Rod loads up nicely, keeps the trebles pinned well, but I wish the rod was "crisper" on the snap of the rod when working the bait. Compared to my buddies Destroyer 110 special, the Orochi definitely shows its price difference, but the Orochi is a much more versatile rod than just jerkbait fishing. This stick can do a lot more. Jerkbaits, shallow cranks, tubes, finesse jigs, and open-hook swimbaits can all be done fairly well. This is my 2nd Orochi now, first was the Perfect Pitch, which IMO is not a very sensitive jig rod but is killer for frogging. Build quality is great on both rods, and I really enjoy the way they fish.

From: Lex: Minnesota  5/16/20

Comments: Tried researching the swingfire, unfortunately there wasn't a lot of info on it, I was nervous to pull the trigger but finally did and I couldn't be happier! If you like throwing crankbaits this is an awesome rod! Super light, super sensitive and keeps fish pinned, I don't worry about losing fish like I use to, haven't tried but I'm sure it'd work go for some top water baits and keitechs

From: Caleb: Idaho 1/26/20

Comments: Recently purchased the Jerkbait special, great black Friday price. I've got it paired with a Revo SX and the balance just seems off. I know the revo is on the heavy side so I'm hoping the MGL I'm picking up soon will remedy this problem. Overall though I'm very happy with this rod, had it out twice, caught 2 fish. Took me a couple hours to get accustomed to the short handle, very awkward on the cast at first. It's all good now, just be wary you big hand folks.

From: Unknown: 12/12/19

Comments: Purchased the Perfect Pitch a couple months back and am impressed with how this rod feels. Feels great in the hand and keeps the fish pinned. Amazing sensitivity as well. I've only had rods in the $100-$150 in the past but it was definitely worth the jump to a higher quality rod.

From: Stephen - Lebanon, OR 10/14/19

Comments: These rods are definitely balanced though not quite the lightest. Sensitivity they are among the best at their price range when comparing apples to apples not nrx or glx etc. Though they are technique specific they are not absolute. The Diablo I find to be a better jig rod than it's intended application. The perfect pitch was a little too much unless you're throwing 1/2 with trailer and up.

From: Terri 5/25/19

Comments: bought the perfect pitch for jigs and after taking it out once I will be returning it, nothing wrong with the rod just not very sensitive for a $300 rod, I was expecting better sensitivity for a rod at this price point.

From: Unknown 5/7/19

Comments: I ordered the Braillest, the 7'5 MH fast action. The rod action to me is in between a Mod-fast and a fast.  IMO that is a great thing. The loading of the blank from tip to the middle of the blank is very smooth.  When throwing heavier jigs its important to me for the action to be slightly slower, it keeps the fish from throwing that heavy weight as easily. I can not stress how sensitive this rod is. The only issue is mine came with a cosmetic defect.  I contacted TW however and they resolved the issue promptly.  All in all fantastic rod.

From: Trey: Fisherville 8/24/18

Comments: I just got my EMTF this week and after a couple of days on the water with it I am blown away. This rod is extremely light, sensitive, and well built everything you would expect from megabass. I found that this rod is rated for 3/8-1 ounce, but it is a lot lighter in the tip than rated I found that anywhere between 3/16 and 1/2 ounce was best on this particular rod and the mod fast action keeps fish on a jig penned really well. Overall extremely satisfied with this rod and it will not be my last one!

From: Aric : Arkansas  8/15/18

Comments: I have the 7'5 Braillest. It is highly sensitive, lightweight, and visually pleasing. However, I find it to be slightly tip heavy when paired with a Revo rocket.  It is somewhere between a mod-fast and a fast. Which is by far my favorite aspect of the rod. Bass don't throw 1/2 and heavier jigs with their head shakes as easily as an my 853c extra fast action does. My particular rod arrived in a nice sleeve, but still had a defect where the clear coat flaked off and revealed the rod material under. I think it's a great rod other than the defect I received. TW told me to send it back in and they'd make it right, but it's just cosmetic so I may keep it.

From: Trey - Fisherville, TN

Comments: I just revived my EMTF this week and after fishing with it for a couple of day I am blown away. This rod has the megabass quality you expect and excellent sensitivity. The EMTF on megabass website says it's meant to throw crankbait sand chatterbaits, but I find it a little to much for those applications, luckily the guys at tactical bassin recommended this rod for lighter Texas rigs and jig and it is excellent for those applications. They also rate this rod for 3/8-1 ounce but I found out it's sweet spot is more in the range of 3/16-1/2. Overall this rod is phenomenal and I would definitely recommend to anyone!!

From: Aric - Arkansas 8/14/18

Comments: I have been a big Megabass fan and these Rods do not disappoint! I own 2 perfect pitch rods and they are extremely sensitive for jigs but they are also very versatile that you can throw Frogs and Spinnerbaits as well as other heavy duty lures! I was a Gloomis fan and i still am but for half the price you get the same sensitivity but more power! These rods are a game changer, get one and you wont be disappointed

From: Tyler: Baltimore, MD 6/16/18

Comments: One of the most beautiful reinforced blank I have ever seen.  Finesse no.problem, back bone awesome, matched to Shimano C14 2500 reel with 20 lb Suffix 832.  Action is awesome, backbone is there.

From: Bryan: Burnside, ky 6/12/18

Comments: Just got mine in yesterday. I got the 7'11 Launcher. The craftsmanship of the rod is great! You can tell that this thing is made with quality materials. I took it out in the yard and did some casting with a weight, It loads and unloads well. It's light but strong. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a solid cranking rod that can handle a variety of sizes of crankbaits or square bills. Although for some reason there is no hook keeper on the rod which is a little disappointing. Another thing is Tackle Warehouse has the weight ratings listed incorrectly for the Launcher. They are 3/4oz-1.9oz

From: Jared: KY 5/19/18

Comments: I own the original EMTF.  I am a HUGE St Croix fan, but I have to say this is my favorite rod.  Extremely versatile and ULTRA sensitive.  I can literally feel the flap of the claws on a rage craw as it falls on a semi slack line.  What more can you ask for?
