Comments: Last year I had lews, daiwa, and abu Garcia. I was trying to see what I wanted to outfit my setup all too. I tried a quantum smoke S3 rod and real. I got a 7'2" MH. I tried with my other combos and it was just a step above. Today I sold all my other combos and now have 14 smoke series rod and reels. This thing is an animal I run a ton of tournaments and they held up like brand new. It's worth the try.

Comments: This is my favorite rod on the planet right now. It's sensitive yet strong, light yet sturdy. This rod casts a mile and the line flies off the guides. The tapper is super fast and crank baits catapult with great distance. I have a two 7'2 MH and a 7'4 heavy for frogging and flipping. I paired it with a Quantum Smoke S3 baitcaster and I can out cast anyone I fish with. Try it for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

Comments: I have 2-3 of most smoke rods. That is a lot of smoke. I Do prefer the newer version to the older but the older is not bad. The newer version does not use micro guides. I love my smoke rods. People give me a lot of crap for using 98% Quantum rods and reels. They buy into the hype of other rods I suppose. My most expensive rods are Dobyn's Champion Extreme HP rods but I still reach for my Quantums 9 out of 10 times. They have been reliable, plenty if not just as sensitive etc. The more expensive rods have better components, I cant lie about that but they pretty much perform the same. They're just not as flashy. I love the action on the Quantum rods as well so there is that. One thing I would like to see is the threaded portion for the screw lock or whatever you want to call it, it needs to be trimmed. Too long and unrefined and your finger will rest here depending on how you hold the rod.

Comments: I bought a quantum smoke rod about 4 years ago from tackle warehouse. When I first got it it was decent, but after time it has become junk. I think that it is due to the micro guides that it was equipped with. I've never had a rod that casts so poorly. When I first started fishing seriously about 20 years ago I bought an inexpensive quantum reel that was complete junk. I tried to give this company another chance with the smoke rod and I'm completely dissatisfied again. If you are shopping for a rod or reel I would recommend shimano, daiwa, st. Croix, or even the less known company Powell before even considering any product from quantum.

Comments: The 747 heavy is an absolute beast of a rod!! Featherlight; good quality components with an incredible backbone section & way more than enough power to move even the biggest fish out of the thickest of cover...landed a 18 lb cat which ate my hack attack jig with this rod - I highly recommend!!!
