This is the dealI’ve tried a lot of big swimbaits and spent a lot for baits and after 2 yrs, this one in the 7” has consistently outperformed. It’s my go to.

Really good for the price. This bait has a wonderful range of subtle action, comparable to the expensive JDM ones. Sinks really slowly so it can be worked at a crawl. The trout color is a great match for California hatchery rainbows in the reservoirs where I fish for big bass. Agreed––it windmills like crazy no matter how smoothly I cast sidearm. But hey, it's twenty dollars. I can throw three of these things into the tules, and I'm still ahead of a JDM lure.

Super fishy!I’ve caught multiple double digit bass on this glide! The 185 is a staple in any swimbait collection.

Shine garbageThese baits look great but…The smaller version casts terrible. It’s so bad it tumbled through the air causing backlash. The tail on the larger version flew off after 5 casts to open water. I’m trying to contact Savage gear to get a replacement tail but am not having any luck. Needless to say, I will not be buying anymore Savage gear products in the future.

Comments: Cast like crap but I've caught dozens of fish on this thing and it's still holding up. Awesome bait for the size if you don't want to use a 7 inch. Great bait once you figure it out other than the helicopter casting lol. Stays in water column nice and doesn't roll over when trying to chop it. Works good if you know how to use it.

From: Mason : Michigan 6/11/23

Comments: The smaller size is the worst casting bait I've ever thrown. You can't possibly get it far enough away to effectively present it to the fish.

From: Zack: WV 5/24/23

Comments: A dab of super glue on the tail will insure that it won't come off. Just saying.

Comments: I have this bait in the 7' version and in Threadfin color which is like sexy shad. I think for the price like most of savage gears lures, it can't be beat! The paint has a really nice shine to it almost like a chrome paint which reflects light. It comes with a strip of sound dampener between the joints, and the hardware is strong and decent for stock hooks and split rings. The glide is very very nice, and the lure doesn't weigh much for its size, so if you are new to large swim baits I'd recommend this bait over most all other glides in this price range, like the S-Waver, and Storm Arashi. The only negative I could say about this bait, is what others have mentioned already in the comments, and that this glide will helicopter with an overhand cast, really i see that as a lack of experience on the angler's part, because most large baits like this, you learn early on, to cast from the side, if at all possible. This glide is just like many other different brands of glide baits, that also helicopter with an overhand cast. In this price range, you shouldn't expect anything more than the norm. Savage Gear is an amazing company that imo is constantly, pushing the bar in the right direction, with affordable, realistic baits, that come with good hardware, and innovations that they probably didn’t come up with, but provided it in their bait, pre-rigged and an amazing price. For example their 8' soft swim bait, pre-rigged with a stinger hook, and bait is molded with a cavity for the hook and wire to hide in. I try to buy baits from custom bait makers as much as possible, the price they charge is usually worth it. Anglers need to shy away from big Japanese lure companies that charge way too much for overpriced baits that are made by machines in a factory. A great example would be a Gancraft jointed Claw 178. $80 for an injection molded factory made bait. Those lures are not worth the huge price tags, please buy custom baits, Mattlures is a good example or 3:16 lures, Mike Bucca Bull shad etc, if you can't afford it or they're not in stock, then buy American or Chinese factory made baits from companies like Savage Gear. At least the prices reflect the product you're getting.

From: Ryan : Tx 10/8/22

Comments: The bait swims well , doesn't sink like a rock , it can even be worked like a wake bait pretty easy. It seems to be built well. One major problem , it cast like crap ! I've never seen a glide bait helicopter so bad ,on every cast. No matter how hard to try to lob it.. If Savage Gear would address that problem ,it would be perfect. It's bad when a bait helicopters so bad it twist your line up in a matter of minutes.

From: John: Lakeport, FL 4/17/22

Comments: Just used the 5.25" Chartreuse for the first time a few days ago. The bait is pretty small but has really nice action, when you twitch it the bait makes pretty great darting glides. Swims well on straight retrieve at slow and medium speeds, didn't try fast retrieve though. I caught four fish between 2-4lbs in just 2 hours of night fishing. Can't wait to target stripers and bigger largemouth in the Delta!

From: Jackson: California 3/10/22

Comments: These are absolutely crap don't waste your money bought 2 and the next day first cast just fishing it didn't even hit anything the tail came off, same with the other one absolutely crap.

From: Unknown: 12/6/21

Comments: This bait is awesome. I upgrade the split rings and hooks on all of my baits and with the size fish this thing catches there's no excuse to not upgrade the hardware. I use the Chartreuse Shad color for striped bass and tie the line directly to it for a tight S swimming motion. Works best for me on a quick retrieve just below the surface. I've caught some really nice fish on this thing. When properly casted there will be little to no issues with helicoptering. For the price you can't get a better glide bait.

From: Unknown: California 11/5/21

Comments: The shine glide is an amazing in the 7inch version. You can do almost anything with it. Big glides, tight glides, and even can retrieve it pretty fast without it blowing up. The 7in does helicopter a little bit but not enough to mess up your cast. The magnum is pretty bad tho. Give this bait a try you won't be disappointed! So far whites been the best color for me. Tight lines.

From: Devin: Wisconsin 9/23/21

Comments: I will confirm to everyone that this bait helicopters BAD. Good luck making a cast any further than 20 yards. I would also suggest attaching a swivel to the split ring on the line tie if you have already bought it. Otherwise all of the helicoptering during casts will twist your line enough to ruin a spool. Don't waste your money.

From: David: Iowa 4/30/20

Comments: great bait a lot like a hph just $24 would really reccomend.

From: Alex: NJ 9/7/19

Comments: It is a good bait for the price has a good side to side action the only flaws I have are that the bait helicopters badly and on one of the colors the paint likes to chip off I found that it does it mostly on the golden shiner color but that's the only one I've seen the paint chipping off on just casting it and it hitting the water. Another problem is that the tail bends easy if you put it somewhere and the tail is at an angle where it's bending but that was my fault I threw it in my bag and forgot it was in my bag and something was laying on the tail. Other than that the baits a good bait and I do recommend it.

From: Chris: FL 7/2/19

Comments: Yes, yes, yes! This bait helicopters like crazy! But, you can't say that it's not cool to see it. Like the previous posts said, you got to side-arm the 3D Shine glider in order to get distance and stop it from helicoptering, which is possible. It has a phenomenal S-waver in the water, too. The only bad thing about this bait is that it won't sink down anymore than a foot. It is very realistic though. There's a reason why people keep buying these, and keeping it on the DL.

From: Hickory: North Carolina 6/12/19

Comments: Bought two of these in the gold shinner color.  Looks amazing but it helicopters very badly when throwing.  Don't know how anyone could throw this bait an further than 20' or so. Mfg. has not done their homework on this one.   Going to return both of them.

From: Brent Stagg - Minneola, FL 8/13/18

Comments: I like this bait, too for all the reason others did.  I do want to comment on the helicoptering.  Everyone is right.  It does that.  But like a lot of lures with this problem, the to minimizing it is to cast slowly.  Lob it; don't try to punch out to get more distance.  In most cases you will cast just as far or farther with less effort.  It will still helicopter some but it is less of a problem.

From: Dean: Apple Valley 7/23/18

Comments: Excellent swimming action but has extremely poor hardware. Lost a tail on two different baits, one of which was new out of the package. Had the through-wire on one bend, and trebles straightened on a sub-15 pound California Delta Striper.

From: Unknown 8/12/17

Comments: I used this swimbait (135/bone) for the last 1.5 days bass and pike fishing in Georgian Bay. I also own a SG glide swimbait (135/blue gill). This lure has a superior S pattern than the Glide due to the taller and narrower profile. I like that the Shine has a tighter S pattern when retrieving, which I liked better than s-waver 120 not a knock just a preference. The 120 produces. This lure really shines when you reel (roughly 540 degrees) and pause, which produces almost two full S shapes and then a lazy S shape with wobble side to side due to the narrower profile. Nailed a couple of pike once I got that figured out the right retrieve. Caught a brave 10" pumpkin seed bluegill on my 2nd cast. PSA: this lure helicopters like crazy, guaranteed every cast if you try to muscle it. A nice sidearm lob is best, reduces the twirling a fair bit. SG should really consider tweaking it as the helicopter kills distance and accuracy.

From: Jon: Barrie, Ontario, Canada 7/25/17

Comments: Fished with the 5.25 gizzard yesterday. It does helicopter but it really didn't bother me a lot. The action of the bait is awesome especially for the price. Only negative I have would be the trebles first fish I caught put a little bend in the hook. Savage Gear could up grade the trebles and sell the bait for $10 -$15 more and it would be awesome.

From: Jacob - OKC, OK 4/1/17

Comments: I got the "Golden Shiner" 7 inch last night...and I must say that for the low price of 25 bucks, this lure is awesome! Swims great, amazing paint job, only flaw I've noticed is that it helicopters while casting. I can still get very long casts regardless. I am hoping that savage gear will make more sink rates for this lure. Great lure and very inexpensive for a good glide bait!

From: Logan: Bossier, Louisiana 12/11/16

Comments: I throw lots of big baits from bait smith magnums to deps 250 this bait for 20 something bucks isn't bad I just think savage gear should make a bigger version like a 10" 7oz version & yes it helicopters there's no way to fix it I've tried

From: Carson: Phoenix, AZ 5/18/16

Comments: The action of this bait is really good. It does exactly what it's supposed to do. The biggest problem I have is it doesn't cast well at all. It's actually quite terrible in that aspect. It helicopters so badly it kills the distance and accuracy of the cast. With this type of bait I don't know if there is any way to fix that other than making like 15ft short little casts with it.

From: Brandon: OH 4/4/16

Comments: I have the 7.25" Threadfin and Gizzard shad and they look and swim awesome. They do helicopter when you cast them but who cares for this price. My only complaint is they should have been weighted a little more because they will come to the surface if you reel them a little fast

From: Bassmaster: VA 3/12/16

Comments: Finally! A good "Shiner" style glide bait! Great profile and gliding action at any speed. Right up there with Deps for 1/4 the price. Does cast like a boomerang banana but that's the trade off for the perfect ballast system. Really have to focus on every cast. Great bait!  Thanks Mads!

From: Josh: Green Cove Springs, FL 1/22/16

Comments: I have the 5.25 in Threadfin. This is a great lure for the price! Obviously it isn't going to be flawless since it's so inexpensive, but I believe it's well worth the $19. The pros: great S curve motion at any retrieve speed. Sinks very slowly. Sharp hooks. The cons: helicopters when casting, finish isn't 100% flawless like a more expensive bait would be, but at this price I don't care at all. Would definitely recommend one of these.
