Overview

Patented in 1923, the Johnson Silver Minnow Spoon is the “Original Weedless Wonder.” Built to deliver a precise thirty-five degree wobble with minimal line twists, the Johnson Silver Minnow Spoon executes a deadly back-and-forth flutter that entices a wide-range of species in both freshwater and saltwater.

Fitted with a single metal weedguard, the Johnson Silver Minnow Spoon is able to slide through heavily vegetated areas where other lures have a tendency to get hung-up. Backed by a super-sharp welded hook, the Johnson Silver Minnow Spoon offers a tried and true vertical presentation that has become a staple among all anglers.

Comments: Great old standby lure for redfish on the flats. It can work the shallowest flat yet be able to drop into a pot hole to dredge out big reds, trout, and snook.

Comments: I've had great success in the past few years with JSM in Gold with White Grub Trailer. Actually last September 2020I caught my PB 21" LM Bass & PB 33" Northern Pike which is big on my 247acre Gin Clear Lake that is only 4 to 7 feet deep. I've tried Paddle Tail Trailers and Kalins Tickle Tails as trailers but the tails get bit off on missed or short strikes. Just a Plain Jane 3 to 5" Grub Tail in White works the best. Keep it simple. I've also had better luck in the pads vs a plastic frog fishing it the same way.

Comments: Excellent bait for soft wees cover (mlfoil, cabbage, coontail, etc.; not as good for "rice" cattails, some reeds).   Always use a trailer.  Can be spray painted. Be sure rough up surface before painting.  Have a base layer plus 2 or 3 cover layers.  Black excellent. Catches bass  pike, and muskies.

Comments: Best spoons! Great in and over the slop. Easy to add trailers too! Along with the Moss Boss, very underrated lure.

From: Dan: Janesville, WI 3/2/20

Comments: These are great spoons to throw in bass holes with vegetation, I've had good success using them and reeled in a ten pounder on one. I don't know why no one has reviewed them or why more folks don't try them, I think they're great and despite looking low tech or old school these spoons can really put some fish in the boat.
