Overview

Sunline Assassin FC Fluorocarbon Line is the first fluorocarbon line released in the US featuring Sunline’s advanced P-Ion technology. Offering improved slickness, abrasion resistance, and longevity, P-Ion processing chemically alters the line's surface to allow resin processing to bond at a molecular level. This processing increases line performance and allows the line to retain key characteristics longer. Also offering near invisibility in the water for the most realistic presentations possible, Sunline Assassin FC Fluorocarbon Line is also some of the best casting 100% fluorocarbon line.

Best FC for the moneyI've used assassin for many years now and have absolutely no complaints. I've tried the higher dollar FC's and I can not say I've found anything about them that is better. Actually I like assassin better than the higher dollar FC'S, especially the handling in cold weather, and the lack of memory. I've caught everything from 17lb musky to 9lb Large mouth to 15lb stripers and everything in between. I use 10,12,15, and 20lb religiously.

Comments: Stop the Assassin assassinations Apparently I've been buying up all the good spools, I've had great service from this line. I trust it enough to throw my 110s on it. 10 years running and no unexplained breaks! Will buy more going forward. I don't mean to be dismissive of negative reviews, but it's surprising to me that there's been problems for other people with this line. I have also enjoyed a similar performance from seaguar invisx. Both are great products, no unexplained breaks with either. That's my story and I'm stickin to it. Not a brand homer.

Comments: I've used this in 12, 15 and 20, all on baitcasting gear. GREAT line at a good price. I have zero complaints and will continue to buy it until they stop making it. I spool carefully, use line conditioner, and check my rod guides for frays. I get 3-4 months of use out of it when it is spooled on.

Comments: This is my first experience with FC and it's great so far. I've found this line to be tough, supple, and have had no issues whatsoever with knots, abrasion, etc., and this is during/after some 30-50 bass days. Note: you really need to put some spit on your knots, no matter what line and knot you're using. Do that, and no problemo I will still try some other brands as this is my first and I want to see what's out there, but this line is hitting all the marks.

From: Eric: South Carolina 10/30/22

Comments: I've have fished about a thousands yards with this line in 12 pound test since last summer but not anymore. Set the hook and it breaks. This morning i had two break offs on it fishing small swim jigs. A few moments after the second failure a half pound dink jumped out of the water with my swim jig in it's mouth. I can no longer trust this line.

From: Richard: Florida 5/27/22

Comments: After experimenting with different FC's I've come to the conclusion that Assassin is the best general purpose FC available. I did a direct comparison with Sufix Advance 17 lb and Assassin 17 lb. Assassin was better casting, easier to manage, and had less memory. The only negative is that you do need to pay close attention to your knot when tying. Assassin has a tendency to fray when tying a clinch knot if not moistened well. Easy remedy was to tie a Palomar knot. No complaints thus far and will use Assassin going forward. It's also a bonus that you get 225 yards as this helps fill two spools without the need for backing.

From: David: Georgia 5/22/22

Comments: By far the best fluorocarbon line that I've ever used. Casts smooth, sensitive, very little memory, and great knot strength. The bad reviews are due to operator error. Spool this up on your next rig. You're gonna love it!

From: Steve: Brooklyn Park, MN 5/18/22

Comments: I have tried this many times, and just cannot have a good experience with this line. It breaks too often, and the knot strength is poor. Last Friday, I broke off a lure on the first cast at the knot with a brand new spool. I rigged it back up, went to cast again and it broke about 30 yards into the line on the first cast again. I kept using it, and probably lost 4 or 5 fish after this.

Comments: Decided to give this line a try for my cranks and jerk-baits purchased 10lb. it's a super soft line great for cranks and jerks baits. It's a solid line very little memory pretty abrasion resistant but I will say I have broke fish off with it. I love the super FC sniper for jigs but I think I'll be sticking with invisex for the jerkbaits and crankbaits hardly ever broke off with invisex.

From: Barry : Virginia 12/19/21

Comments: broke 20 lb a good handful of times. its very thin and casts well, but can't be trusted imo. sunline just isn't it if you're looking for dependable abrasion resistance. go pline or gamma for the real stuff this line is soft and fragile from my experience I would never use it again, nor any other sunline products unless its braid.

From: Unknown: 11/29/21

Comments: This is my favorite line. I just love fishing with it. For my fluorocarbon baitcaster setups I use 10 lb for jerkbaits, 12 lb for crankbaits, 15 lb for everything else most of the year. In winter I switch my 15 lb baitcasters to 12 lb. This line is great in cold water. When I mess up and backlash it clears up easier and kinks up less than any other fluoro I have fished. I have dug in on skips and never ruined a spool-up because of it. It has rather low memory for fluorocarbon. (I do use line conditioner.) I have tried more expensive lines and decided I wasn't missing anything. This line is not appreciably less sensitive than any of those lines and it handles much better. All of my fishing haunts are pretty highly pressured and full of finicky fish. I don't think I have missed any bites that I wouldn't have missed on more expensive lines. The price is great, especially for the big spools. At 225 yards on the small spools, the logistics of filling two reels is easier which may seem like a minor thing, but it is a nice quality of life bonus. Highly recommend to anyone who has had bad experiences with fluorocarbon before or who is looking to try it for the first time. The only thing I would like to see is smaller sizes. I use Sniper for finesse stuff, but would gladly switch to Assassin if it came in 5 or 6 lb test.

From: Ralph: Richmond, KY 7/29/21

Comments: I put 10lb on my 3000 sized spinning reel late Feb of this year. It's Jul 27th (5 months later) and the line is still fishable. I use line conditioner, of course, but the fact this stuff has been on a spinning reel this long and still good should be reason enough to try it.

From: Unknown: Minnesota 7/27/21

Comments: I use 12lb,14lb for all applications, other than frogging and live shinners. will use nothing else!!!

From: Dino: Central Florida 6/20/21

Comments: I've been using the 25 pound for swimbaits I am very happy with this line. Good casting, not a lot of memory, and very abrasion resistant. Would definitely recommend.

From: Ethan: Florida 4/22/21

Comments: I've been a long time fan of Seagaur Invizx and always grab a 1000yd spool of 12lb during the holiday sales. I started using Assassin on some of my 10lb rigs this year and have been impressed. This line has the great handling of Invisx and an edge in abrasion resistance. I've used the OG Reaction line by Sunline too and feel this is as good or better. Between this and FC Sniper, I have two good lines for reaction and bottom contact baits. They aren't Tatsu or even Shooter, but you pay for that. If you want a legit fc a step above Red Label/Super FC quality, this is great.

From: Chris: Lancaster 1/5/21

Comments: I've been fishing for about 25 years, and this is by far the best line I've ever used. I've tried a lot of brands and materials, this is by far the most versatile, do everything line.... excellent knot strength, excellent abrasion resistance, super sensitive, and casts like braid. I use it in 8, 12, and 17. Everything from walleye jigging and trolling, to jigging and cranking for bass. Just an excellent product, make the jump, you won't regret it...

From: Chris: Muskegon, MI 11/30/20

Comments: Sunline Assassin FC is my go to line for cranking. I purchased this line on recommendation from Matt Allen of Tactical Bassin. One year ago I spooled up 12 pound test on a Quantum Smoke S3 KVD version paired with a 7' MH St. Croix Premier crank bait rod. This line is legit. I have caught several big bass on this line, including an 8.5 and a 6.4 back in February 2020. No big deal you might say. However, what really convinced me was my fishing trip from two days ago. I was fishing two rip rap points that protrude off the dam. Within the first 30 minutes I caught a couple 5 pounders with a few 2's and 3's mixed in by ticking the top of the rocks with a crankbait.  I accidentally made a cast with my line wrapped around the rod tip which broke the line sending the lure flying and made an insane backlash on my reel. I spent the next half hour picking the backlash out which had the line kinked very badly. This would be the end of most fluorocarbon lines, but I decided to keep fishing. I let half the line off the reel and trolled the crank bait down the dam in hopes that the line would straighten back out. When I reeled the line back in it looked just as the day I put it on. I go back to my spot and start fishing again. What happened next amazed me. In four consecutive casts, I caught a 5.8, a 7.2, a 6.8, and then an 8.0. Keep in mind that I would check my line between fish, snip off the first foot or two, and re tie as necessary. The last fish bit right at the boat, I couldn't have had more than 5' of line out when she struck which will usually break most lines. She stripped drag a couple times too. Let me finish by saying that this line is worth every penny and fulfills every criteria of what makes for a superior fluorocarbon fishing line.

From: Kenneth C: McDonough: 6/30/20

Comments: I have had the 20 on a reel since March and it is great. The line is almost 3 months old and shows no signs of needing to be replaced. I have been fishing jigs and big worms in brush and have had no issues. Buy some.

From: Rufus: Texas 6/30/20

Comments: This is the best bang for your buck fluorcarbon on the market, end of story. Anyone that says differently is wrong and/or they don't know how to tie a knot with fluorcarbon.

From: Erin H: Birmingham, AL 5/2/20

Comments: Got a spool of 12# on sale.  First off, it is probably the easiest casting flourocarbon I have used to date.  Seems to be very abrasion resistant with good knot strength.  However, I was a bit disappointed in sensativity when using bottom contact baits.  Its fine for moving baits but when using jigs and texas rigs I was a bit disappointed.  I will probably continue to use Assassin for moving baits but otherwise find another line for bottom contact baits.

From: David: Sauk Centre, MN 9/12/19

Comments: Not abrasion resistant at all and coils build up extremely fast in the line

From: Unknown 7/17/19

Comments: I tried out the 8 lb. and I really like it. Have it on a Diawa 2000 spinning reel with a St. Cxoix avid 6'6" medium lite spinning rod was using it for wacky rig senkos and it performed very well. Caught numerous bass up to 3 lbs. no problem. Also caught a 7 lb. catfish on an unweighted seko rigged wacky with an o ring with no problems. I sprayed it with line conditioner after spooling it on the reel the night before. Had a little bit of coil coming off reel but nothing major. Going to switch to 2500 spinning reel with bigger spool which should solve the problem. I spooled up with straight floro. Just my honest opinion on the line I like it a lot good sensitivity and good knot strength. Had NO breakoffs, Going to try the FC Sniper also and then make my choice one of the two for my new line.

From: Steve: Andover, CT 6/30/19

Comments: I used seugaur red label for years, it was very cheap line but I never once broke a fish off and it had excellent abrasions resistance. I decided I was going to give sunline a try again after not using it for many years, so I picked up 8 spoils of this stuff. I've been using it for about 3 months now and I am less than impressed, I have not broken a fish of yet and it is very smooth and castable, however whenever I tie the 8lb to braid on my spinning setups the line will snap at the knot and will slip through the braid when tightening it down. I have noticed that if I am sinching a knot down the line has a tendency to actually fray above and at the knot, therefore sometimes I have to tie the knot multiple times before I get a good knot. There are aspects of it I have found are exponentially better than seaguar red label, but on the other hand there are things about seaguar red label that are much better than this line. As a tournament angler I find myself nervous when skipping docks or flipping heavy cover and I don't like that. Overall I give it a 6.5/10, I would have expected much more from 20$ line. I'm going to give shooter and sniper a try, I hope to have better results with them. In my opinion this line would be excellent for the weekend angler or pond fisherman.

From: Patrick: Charlotte, NC 6/11/19

Comments: smoothest and easiest fluoro on the market

From: Anthony - Orlando, FL 4/2/19

Comments: Been using the 20 lb for jigs. This line is super tough, very castable, and has great knot strength. Time to get some more for other techniques. :)

From: Kevin: Columbia, TN 6/17/17

Comments: After using this stuff the first few months of the season I really like it. Manageable & seems to be the best fluoro I have ever used for abrasion resistance. Been using it to crank mostly, but will convert more rods too it as I need to replace line.

From: Matt: Delaware, OH 6/5/16

Comments: I second this last guy, I really like assassin. I have also noticed it has really good knot strength. I have been fishing the 15 lb mainly for swimbaits and some bigger jigs and I have not had any breakage issues. The 15-pound also is very manageable for 15 pound fluorocarbon, very few backlashes and great casting distance. sensitivity is also really good not Top of Line but pretty darn good.

Comments: Well after a youtuber recommended this line I thought I would give it a shot a man glad I did.  The 12lb is ridiculously smooth and tough highly advise trying it out

From: Jeremiah: Hayville, KS 3/26/16

Comments: Been fishing small cranks & jerkbaits on 10lb assassin for a few months. (end of fall, beginning of spring) & I definitely like it. I can't say I prefer it more or less than Reaction FC or FC Sniper as its different. I especially like this for small squarebills & jerkbaits as I love to feel every bit of the retrieve.  Can definitely feel the slickness of the line immediately. I am slowly converting to 100% sunline after trying Stren Fluorocast, Trilene 100% & Trilene Vanish, Vicious Flouro, Spiderwire Fluoro, Seguar Invisx, Seguar Redline. My conclusion after about 6 years of trying to find the perfect lines for different bassin applications is that you get what you pay for. I don't fill the entire spool when using high quality/price line, just the portion I will be able to cast out times 2 or 3. The rest I back with old mono & recently braid (via Aaron Martens suggestion). Seguar Invisx would be the only line I've tried that comes close to matching the quality of Sunline. The thing I like best about sunline is the line diameter is much smaller & less memory than some of the cheaper lines.

From: Rich: Stony Point, NY 3/22/16

Comments: I got the 20lb line & I didn't like it at all I didn't think the break strength was very good at all & line management was an issue. that being said shooter floro is prob the best on the market I was hoping this was going to be cheaper & somewhat comparable to shooter though I wasn't expecting it to be as good for the money I'm sticking with Berkley trilene imo it is the best value.
