Overview

The Z-Man Chatterbait Mini Max is a compact bladed jig ideal for situations that call for a smaller profile and more subtle vibration. Designed with a downsized stainless Hex-shaped ChatterBlade, the Mini Max features a blade almost half the size of the original ChatterBlade. Built with Z-Mans patented direct head-to-blade Chatterbait connection, this signature combo ensures the Mini Max starts vibrating with the first turn of the reel handle and allows it to deflect off cover easily.

Fitted with dual conical keeper barbs molded into the shank of the hook, soft plastic trailers remain firmly secured to the jig hook, and hand-tied silicone skirts are fastened with stainless steel wire for lasting performance. Equipped with a heavy-duty 2/0 black nickel hook, the Z-Man Chatterbait Mini Max delivers tournament caliber performance in a bite-sized morsel that triggers bites from otherwise uninspired bass.

YES!I was out in my googan canoe the other day and caught a whopper on the green pumpkin. Any trailer you want to use will work.

Unbelievable.Unbelievable product. I been using it for less than a year and it has produced a 6.2, 5.2, 4.7, and 4.2 for me in Indiana (amongst many numbers of other solid fish in just one spring/summer period). It has been particularly productive for me past dark when it’s pitch black out. Oh, yes, folks - the drawing power is insane! The 4.2 I caught was in probably 10+ feet of water and it bit near the boat - the tight wobble and sound this thing emits are just deadly. The bluegill color is beautiful and what I have done all my damage with. Pair it with a Kamikaze baits Swimon and bam - MONEY! You will not regret this.

Best chatter bait I’ve usedThis is my favorite chatter bait. Although I have not used chatterbaits for some time they will always have a spot in my heart because I have broken my PB twice with. I pair this up on 3 inch zakos and Kalins grubs.

Comments: *Mini-Max Hardware Tip : The thin snap where you tie your line to can start to come open with repeated use . Simply take a pair of needle nose pliers and gently crimp down the ends of the short piece of wire which connects to both sides of the snap connection . It doesn't take much but once the ends of the short piece of wire connecting both sides of the snap are gently crimped down then you will not have any more issues with the snap coming open . Lastly , adjusting your drag for providing slightly more give and using a rod with moderate action are a staple of chatterbait fishing as well and will help with snap integrity / longevity.

Comments: Snap opened an hour and a half into fishing a brand new mini max. An hour later it opened again. I had good success fishing the lure, but who wants to check for the possibility of an open snap every 5 casts? I've fished both the original and jackhammer versions and had zero problems with components. Z-man needs to upgrade their snaps, and advise or reimburse those who have already purchased the minis (I bought 2) with the correct gauge wire and size snap so that it doesn't deter the lure of any action.

Comments: Run a 90mm Berkley Gilly as a trailer and trim the skirt about 1/2 in KILLER.

From: Pat: MN 6/15/23

Comments: First and foremost, the thin wire snap is terrible. it doesn't take much for them to open up. I hope ZMAN fixes this. Apart from that, this is a great downsized Chatterbait without sacrificing much vibration and hook wire size.

From: Chenchar: COLORADO 5/1/23

Comments: This is my smallmouth and spotted bass chatterbait. Was noticing short strikes on my jackhammer and after MANY ruined trailers, I switched to the Mini Max. It's the real deal. Will catch smallmouth, spots, and those pressured largemouth that you thought were shut down.

From: Clay: Pittsburgh 2/3/23

Comments: At times can be a good chatterbait when you need a smaller profile and want to downsize your presentation. Cons: Cheap thin wire snap that bends out easily and can break. Also, the hook shank is very short and leads to a lot of lost fish. Pros: Has a time and place when it can be a productive lure. The price point is appropriate.

Comments: I like the mini max much. You can't always fish, stained windy conditions. Blue bird sky or cold fronts this bait gives you options. Trailers, I use old trick and speed worms cut too about 4". Small swimbaits work also. Very good quality except for the thin snap.

From: Jethro: Md 10/19/22

Comments: Everyone throws a bladed jig. This one is different. I catch fish on it right behind other fellas throwing bladed jigs. I feel it works better with thinner trailers. Try one!

Comments: 4 out of 5 stars. Upgrade the snap and it is perfect. Hook is very sharp and strong. This is truly an amazing bait. Lost my PB of what could very well have been a double digit bass using the minimax 1/2oz in firecraw color with a black craw trailer. It pulled my kayak and max drag on an slx dc reel like it was nothing. Now that doesnt sound like much maybe 11lbs of drag but for a bass that is pretty good pull. I did find the snap was bent out, after losing that fish. That is the weak link of this bait but I was able to re bend it back together. Other than that its a fish catching monster. Caught 15 bass that same day all 2-4lb range using 2 mini max chatter baits. I can also say the same for the jackhammer line. But fall season calls for smaller not so loud baits and boy do these work. The other main advantage of these chatter baits is that you will get bigger bites which always ups the fun factor.

Comments: This bait is a fish catcher on a 7' medium with 10-14lb fluoro. But, the bait keeper is terrible and tends to split the smaller trailers this bait needs to perform well. It needs the same wire style keeper as the Custom and it would be great.

From: 4BeersIn: Texas, 8/12/22

Comments: Two Trips and 7 fish later on the green pumpkin paired with the baby goat in the deal. Rigged like a crawfish or on its side to mimic baitfish it has work. The keeper is decent enough to keep the trailer on but easy enough to pull off and re-rig, elaztech that is. Fishing the quarter ounce on my power bfs setup a curado 70 mgl and a custom cast away medium light with straight 20lb braid has been fishing local ponds great.

From: Chris: Dallas, TX 8/3/22

Comments: I've caught largemouth, smallmouth, pickerel, and rock bass on the green pumpkin Mini Max. The blade starts up quickly and is much more subtle than the Jackhammer, though I wish the blade came painted black like on the Jackhammer. After throwing it on a few different rods (Ike Delay 6'4", Dobyns DC703, Dobyns DC734, all on 12 lb fluoro), I found the lighter rods made it easier to feel the subtle vibration of the blade while maintaining sufficient power to set the hook.

From: Ray: Montoursville, PA 7/16/22

Comments: I like the mini max a lot. Great chatterbait for ponds and probably all waters, but I have tried it on ponds and crushed the bass. Has held up well also; only downside is the snap, I had it open up a couple times on decent size fish, 3 pounds or so. I will be replacing the snap. Great bait overall.

From: Trent: CO 7/4/22

Comments: Thing is legit. Honestly a must have as it will get better than any other chatterbait depending on the day. Starts up relatively instantly. Pairs amazing with jerk shadz. Great for smallmouth as well. Only complaint as I'd want a wire bait keeper like on a Jack hammer.

From: Hayden: Idaho 6/5/22

Comments: This thing is amazing! Came up on tough conditions this past weekend, out of my party of 10 people I was the only one to catch fish. Started with a Jackhammer had no luck. Went to a smaller profile using the Mini Max and caught 3 large mouths and 3 smallies and 1 nice white bass. If you are a chatterbait or bladed jig fan you need this in your arsenal.

From: Parker: Arkansas 5/16/22

Comments: I have had a ton of luck on these snack sized chatterbaits this spring. The 3 inch z-man minnowz pairs up perfectly. I have better luck keeping these free of the stringy moss compared to jackhammers or other options. I will say that rate of fall is faster by weight due to the blade size. Blade wobbles immediately upon retrieve. The one thing I will complain about is the snaps, I've bent two out already. I'll be swapping snaps out on them ahead of time going forward.

From: Micah: Lincoln, NE 4/28/22

Comments: Great bait and size. Love these. Caught my PB 8.5 largemouth last week on Gizard color with fluke style trailer.

From: Mike: Cumming, GA 4/9/22

Comments: Great small package that delivers. They are still heavy enough to throw on baitcasters and have a much more subtle thump which plain works on those tough days. Pick some up you'll love them.

From: Unknown: Indiana 3/29/22

Comments: This is revolutionary to the chatter bait series, instantly; after many days of cold water fishing with standard jackhammers, jerkbaits, and even finesse lures, this bait outproduced exponentially. As a bank and specifically pond fisherman, i always struggled to find a more compact and finesse swim jig or vibrating jig, and the thin skirt and sleek profile brings light to a preciously dark area of the chatter bait line. I used a streaks 3.75 and began consistently catching larger fish than standard for the ponds near me. Switching to a minnowz gave a even better result of larger fish. The mini max is here to stay in my arsenal, and is so much fun to use. (Thrown on a mh glass rod with 7:2:1 reel)

From: keegan: Charleston 1/10/22

Comments: I fished mine on 15lb Hybrid, with a Bass Assasin split tail shad as a trailer. The thump is much more subtle, as expected. Great looking compact package. This'll work, people!
